A Japanese company that thought it owned a modern masterpiece is grappling with the likelihood it’s fake. The painting is supposed to be “Kiki de Montparnasse,” a famous work by the early 20th-century artist Moise Kisling. Signs point to it being a fake, painted by the infamous German forgery artist Wolfgang Beltracchi. In an exclusive, NHK spoke to him about the painting.
