Japan’s new PM Takaichi vows to boost defence spending to 2% GDP

Just three days into her new post as Japanese prime minister, Sanae Takaichi has pledged to accelerate the nation’s defence spending goal of 2 per cent GDP.

Initially targeted for the 2027 fiscal year, Takaichi told fellow Parliamentarians in Tokyo on Friday that the government would aim to achieve this by current fiscal year through March.

“Japan and the United States will work together in partnership to raise the deterrence and response capabilities of our alliance in order to tackle the issues we face,” Takaichi said.

The new target underscores the Liberal Democratic Party leader’s commitment to what she calls “proactive” spending in efforts to stimulate economic growth in Japan – something she argues is a prerequisite for sound fiscal policy.

  1. She's also making MASS DEPORTATIONS her first priority, in order to keep Japan, JAPAN! How refreshing in a long list of world leaders who couldn't care less about their own citizens!

  2. Another rather Contradictory Conservative when you read her past and personal views…Inspired by Maggie Thatcher…??!! How can one declare one is in favour of "strong women" yet support a Patriarchal Order – Leadership…? Sounds like Trump in a Pencil Skirt.

  3. 👨🏽‍🦲🙇🏻‍♀️👨🏽‍🦲🙇🏻‍♀️👨🏽‍🦲🙇🏻‍♀️👨🏽‍🦲👨🏽‍🦲🙇🏻‍♀️🧋🙏🏾🙏🏻🌏🌏🌏🌏🌏🌏🌏The First Woman the Best 💕

  4. You notice when the camera pans to other members of parliament 100% look to be Japanese, where as in any Western country the leadership resembles a pack of skittles. They are so lucky to be able to preserve their culture while Canada flushes it down the toilet.

  5. Funny how the left wing media doesn’t make a peep about her going full steam on mass deportation because they have a 2% immigrant population and she wants Japans culture to be preserved.
