China summons Japan ambassador as war of words over Taiwan drags on | BBC News

China has summoned the Japanese ambassador in Beijing over Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s comments on Taiwan.

China and Japan have been locked in an escalating war of words this week, set off by Takaichi’s suggestion that Japan could respond with its own self-defence force if China attacked Taiwan.

Both countries’ foreign ministries have lodged serious protests with each other. A Chinese diplomat also made a comment which some interpreted as a threat to behead Takaichi.

The spat touches on the historical animosity between China and Japan, as well as longstanding “strategic ambiguity” on the sovereignty of self-governed Taiwan.

  1. So that you know the united states doesn’t care about democracy in any place in the world the PROOF
⭐ Why the U.S. helped China after 1972

    America wanted:

A counterweight to the Soviet Union during the Cold War

To open a massive new market for U.S. companies

    This cooperation transformed China.

🇺🇸 Economic Help After 1979 (Reform Era)

    1. Normalization of relations (1979)

The U.S. recognized the PRC and began:

    Formal trade

    Investment flows

    Technology licensing

This opened the door for rapid industrialization.

    2. Massive U.S. trade access

The biggest driver of Chinese economic growth was the U.S. consumer market.

The U.S. opened its markets to Chinese exports

American companies outsourced manufacturing to China

U.S. investors built factories in China (textiles, electronics, machinery)

➡️ This created millions of Chinese jobs and transferred industrial know-how.

    3. China joins the WTO (2001) — with U.S. support

Washington strongly pushed for China’s entry into the World Trade Organization.

    This gave China:

    Low tariffs on exports

    Access to global markets

    Protection for Chinese companies abroad

    China's exports exploded from:

    $249 billion (2000) to

    $4 trillion+ (today)

U.S. support for WTO membership was one of the most important reasons for China’s economic rise.

    4. Technology and investment

    Before 2010, American firms transferred:

    Modern manufacturing technology

    Management systems

    Engineering expertise

    Examples:

Intel, Microsoft, Boeing, GM, Apple, Motorola

Billions in venture capital in China’s tech sector

    This helped China build:

    A modern electronics industry

    Massive export supply chains

    Advanced infrastructure

🇺🇸 Military and Strategic Help (Limited but Important)

    1. Against the Soviet Union (1970s–1980s)

The U.S. and China cooperated in intelligence sharing against the USSR.

    2. Sale of dual-use technology (1980s)

Before 1989, the U.S. allowed China to purchase:

    Transport aircraft

    Radar systems

    Anti-submarine technology

    Satellite and aerospace components

    3. Military exchange programs

The U.S. conducted limited officer exchanges with the PLA in the 1980s to build cooperation.

➡️ After 1989 (Tiananmen), almost all U.S. military aid stopped.

    📌 Short Summary

How the U.S. helped China grow after WWII:

➡️ 1945–49: Supported the Nationalists (KMT), not the CCP

    Military aid

    Economic reconstruction funds

    ➡️ After 1972: Supported the PRC’s rise

Opened U.S. markets to Chinese exports

    U.S. investment and factory building

    Technology transfers

    Intelligence cooperation against the USSR

    Pushed for China’s WTO membership

Huge trade surplus allowed China to accumulate wealth
Which means that the U.S helps the CCP even if it was a dictatorship regime just to for her interest this is a perfect example how the U.S doesn’t care about Democracy

  2. They violate Japanese territorial waters almost every day, yet are angry at Takaichi's message and are threatening to invade Japan. What's more, the message is being conveyed in a distorted way. They are so angry that they can't see what is right in front of them. They are difficult to handle, like a baby that has just started to learn to speak.
    hahaha

  3. One big mistake Japan did was their investment in China. Build ccp own joint venture Japanese factory to produce Sony, Panasonic , ect. They should invest in ASEAN countries. Now china is biting their feeding hand.

  4. The thing is Japan's new PM is like Trump, she just wants to change the constitution that limits the Japanese army after WW2, basically she wants war and to be able to start a war, which was prohibited by themselves in their own constitution. She's trying to bring fascism back to Japan, can be seen in her relationship with the extreme organizations in Japan. The Taiwan problem has nothing to do with Japan, and yet they still want to participate, so it's just pure comedy. btw avg age in Japanese self defense army is 39…..

  5. Western media, as always, propagandizes that China is the bully, yet no one condemns Japan for interfering in China’s internal affairs first. The last time Japan used the exact same pretext to meddle in China’s internal affairs, it triggered World War II. using the same excuse, it invaded China and massacred tens of millions of innocent Chinese civilians.
Today’s China is no longer the weakling of yesteryear, If Japan repeats the crimes it committed last century, the Chinese people will settle both new and old scores at once

  6. Never mind Taiwan, the Japan PM is the best example of how plastic surgery has gone terribly wrong. She should sue her plastic surgeon and get her money back. It’s so horrible. They literally butchered her face. I feel for her husband….

  8. That's what it's all about, closing a chapter of 1949 to remove the remnants of the National army that fled to Taiwan and challenging the USA's presence in the Pacific as seen with Chinese influence in the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu

  9. Even if Japan issues travel advisories, it won't affect them at all. Just announce a ban on agricultural exports to Japan—not harsh threats or military force—and Japan will panic. Japan relies on China for most of its food supplies. Why wouldn't they do it?

  11. The CCP government have never set foot nor flew its flag on Taiwanese soil. The government in Taiwan has never been removed and predates the CCP and even used to govern all of China. They are a continuing sovereign that has never been disrupted since 1912. They cannot simply declare theirs what is still owned and defended by the first and current government. It looks more like the Korea peninsula (North and South China).

  12. Show no mercy towards Japanese militarism. Japan used the same excuse to militarise before WW2 and our ancestors had to bear unimaginable suffering. Hold tight to the memory of millions of innocent Asians being massacred during WW2. Our hearts demand justice and we must stand firm to the imperialism ideology of Japan and make sure their cruel intentions never return to this world.

  13. Every day, 54 fighter jets and several warships surround and threaten the lives of Taiwanese people—that's China! Every day, you, the PRC, are constantly threatening and intimidating all international friends who support Taiwan! You are the root of all evil in the world! If China doesn't strike first, Japan won't attack! And Japan says it's for self-defense!! ———–What the hell is China doing?! You're allowed to attack, but others aren't allowed to fight back?! That's ridiculous!' China PRC! No class! Is the PRC the number one gangster? Or is it Russia, the your best friend that invaded Ukraine?!

  14. Oh well, a failed journalist who is soon going to be a failed PM of Japan. As a woman, it's sad for me to see. Her demeanor with Trump was so crass and cheap looking. She is no Margaret Thatcher, she has the vibe of an ugly madam in a brothel. It's Japan's bad luck to have her as PM. Her vibes say it all.

  17. The Japanese don't even think of Taiwan as belonging to Japan. They're just saying they'll support Taiwan if China invades Taiwan by force. All they want is for China to stay quiet.
