  1. yes they want to maximize shareholder value, but the ceos and especially founders were really good people who genuinely cared about their employees and coustomers. I feel like this video tries to undermine that by saying that they only do it for the shareholders

  2. one of the things with costco is that they carry the blandest version of quality goods at scale. even their Kirkland signature is in the middle, decent quality not a lot of variety. the quality is better than cheap walmart brand items but you have to find another shop if you want the better goods. the other, bigger factor addressed is that they pay way more than walmart.

  3. Costco so goated they make everything better for everyone and also make more money for themselves. They are what was envisioned when Capitalism was invented, a corporation that under the free market makes everything better in the name of making more money.

  4. yall think chatgpt has learned to ragebait and increased dead internet theory cause of it

or are people so dumb nowadays i couldn't tell the difference

    ahower thought in the comments

  5. I think i would have apreciated more time looking at stats and figures instead of stock images/videos while you are speaking

Like i did not even catch the numbers for revenue distribution because you flashed it on the screen for only a few seconds

I think that would have been more valuble than a few more seconds of some stock video showing papers being stacked or corpos pretend talking

  6. The massive quantities has always been my issue with Costco on a personal level since I just don't need that much for me, BUTT, especially with this video, I appreciate them existing; the world needs more players that help everyone

  7. Despite what I'm about to type, I enjoy going to Costco. I leased a c-store. Costco opened up a store down the street to the north. The marketing manager came by to get us to join, but we already had memberships. But it gave me an opportunity to ask how they price their gas. They openly laughed at me and said that they would never charge MORE THAN $0.12 BELOW what they pay for it. Then the Kroger (Smith's) store east of us expanded their fuel station massively. Not long after my business customers that were most of my business became extremely infrequent customers. Ah, what could have been. We shut down soon after. At least it wasn't Sam's/Walmart.

  8. Costco is capitalism at its best and most ideal: a business that maximises the value that it provides for the area it lies in, on every front for the purpose of its own gain. It set itself up so that the health of it's own cash flow is proportional to that of the nearby economy, and then it improves that economy. Shits kinda beautiful.

  9. The video is bias by pointing how restaurants benefits but not mention other small businesses such as farmers market, small convenience stores, opticals, etc that it competes directly with you.
