Beijing to ban all imports of seafood from Japan: Japanese media

The Sino-Japan diplomatic spat deepens, with reports of a fresh ban on Japan’s seafood shipments to China. It comes barely months after Beijing partially eased a 2023 restriction on its imports, over Japan’s decision to release treated wastewater from the Fukushima power plant. There are also reports that talks between both sides over the resumption of beef shipments have been suspended. The current dispute goes beyond trade, hitting the tourism industry as well. Japan’s film industry is also not spared from impact. China has frozen regulatory reviews for new Japanese films. Stephen Nagy from the International Christian University joins us from Tokyo and shares his thoughts on the issue.

  3. Genius ! The new JP PM also pr0v0ke SKorea..

On November 16, South Korean National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik expressed concern over Japan's recent words and actions on issues such as South Korean history and territory, demanding that Japan demonstrate sincere remorse and a responsible attitude.

  4. It’s clear, China is trying to make an example of Japan to say, if countries openly support Taiwan defense then we will punish you economically. Don’t forget China uses economic punishment to deal with diplomacy. Look at Australian lobster and iron ore. China is just proving time and time again that it is an unreliable trade partner.

  5. In fact, it is common for the Chinese Communist Party to restrict Japanese seafood and the entry of Chinese tourists. Therefore, the public doesn't seem to be too concerned. Overtourism and rising seafood prices are currently serious problems in Japan, so the public in japan is actually a little hopeful.

Until a few months ago, China had banned the import of Japanese seafood, but this did not cause any problems in Japan.

  6. The quality of CNA news has shamefully plunged in recent years. It wants to speak with one mind with the “Five Eyes” narratives or otherwise it engages dump and misinformed guest speakers. Very shameful to Singapore indeed!!

  7. The newspaper media in Asia especially in Malaysia, is not doing true journalism !

Becos 2 days ago, the Sun Newspaper (18th Nov 2025) and previously the Star Newspaper did not mention that Taiwan is part of China (as per the surrender declaration of Japanese after WW2). The newspaper just mention that China view Taiwan as its own but did not mention about surrender declaration of Japanese and also did not mention about UN recognition of One-China policy.

This will cause readers to think that China is eyeing Taiwan for the country but in fact it was already declared that Taiwan be returned to China during the signing of surrender declaration of Japanese after WW2 ended.

The media have to do true journalism ie. report as what it is and report news in FULL !

  8. Hope Japan will make some self-discovery about their past and achieve a genuine and lasting reconciliation. True strength for a nation lies not in avoiding its history, but in confronting it with honesty. The recent actions by the Prime Minister, which have rightly upset China and other neighbors, only highlight how this necessary introspection remains incomplete. For the sake of regional stability and a peaceful future, it is crucial for Japan to demonstrates genuine empathy and remorse for its actions during World War II, the world will come to respect its efforts toward honest self-reflection — paving the way for genuine and lasting reconciliation with those it once harmed.

  9. Takaichi won't back down with her typical hard right attitude. Her next step is a strong dose of backside licking of Donald Trump hoping for his help in silencing the strong Chinese criticism. Given Trump's consistent anti-China stance Takaichi will probably get what she wants.

  10. Why interview this guy ?
He sound more like anti-China !
All of his answer were not in favor of China !
Very likely this guy is paid to say in this way but the world is NOT stupid !
