  1. Literally plopped my hard earned cash on "FLJP" ETF an hour prior to this video release. I watched this video and was wondering what your recommendation was going to be.

  2. Thanks for a timely piece. Planning to move there next year; so, I want to learn more about the companies there.

  3. Not sure how to do the hype feature on yt so here's my hype: "✨🎉🎉🎉👌😍💖👏😆🤯🤯🤠😱🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏋️‍♀️🤸‍♂️".
Awesome Japan video, and yeah, some more international would be great. 👌 Would definitely be interested in some Japan sector videos, or even a broad look at India.

I know there's been a lotta investment there lately (and the in-laws are from there).

  4. How ironic I just sold my Mazda adr shares today. Reason being like you said it's really hard to follow the company because of how little English language info there is. Also I'm a little worried what could happen with the yen/usd exchange rate cause to me Japan looks like a very strong candidate for a sovereign debt crisis in the near future.

  5. Lol at jinglish. Currently working for an amazing Japanese machine tool company, their multi thousand page manuals are tough to get through,.even the translated ones

  6. Thank you, Joe. Please, more foreign markets coverage. I'm interested in your thoughts on India and Colombia. To buy FLJP, I'm shifting off a high expense ratio ETF that tracks JP Morgan Asia Credit Index (JACI) Non-Investment Grade Corporate Index (KHYB). It has been good for me, as well as KWEB, but, as with all Krane Shares products, their expense ratios are high.

  7. Investing in Japan now? After interest rates moving up and likely going higher? I think your video is a few years late. I love your research, but this one is a big fat no, thanks.

  8. Japan might be a little cheap now, but I don't see It as a long term investment because the declining population will make growth hard to come by.

  9. What are your thoughts on ETF $AVDV it has about 32% in Japan and an expensive ratio about 0.33%? Currently holding it about 5% of my portfolio.

  10. I haven't seen the YouTube hype button for a while now, I think you only get a few opportunities to hype a video and that's your lot?

  11. 円安が進んでるから日経平均が買われやすい、つまり上がりやすい。
    今後も円安が進めば、さらに日経平均は上がって行くだろう。

  12. Good video but I wish you mentioned the BOJ's recent rate hikes and the end of the Japan carry trade. I incorrectly guessed that was the reason you made this. With the currency uncertainty, I don't see a compelling reason to invest in Japan as a standalone.
I agree that the best way to play Japan is through an all-world fund like VTI. For those who want to underweight the US, a developed international fund like DFAI or AVDE would work (or better yet, international value which has done well this year). If I had to choose between investing in Europe or Japan, right now I'd pick Europe.
If you don't know the language, it would be a bad idea to stock pick through a brokerage like IBKR. As you pointed out, Japan is a tough country to penetrate because of its low foreign-language proficiency (for interesting cultural reasons).
One Asian country I am currently investing in as a standalone is South Korea. It has been on a tear this year in large part because of the skyrocketing demand for memory which Samsung and SK Hynix cover.

  13. Subaru, Nissan, and Suzuki
    Kubota, Hitachi, Komatsu, Yanmar, Takeuchi
The Japanese makers are moving the world this is true.
    Don't hate just buy.

  14. Coverage on Japan or just wider foreigner investments would be great. I've been following Japan and in particular "Rapidus", looking for future opportunities to diversify abroad and reap Alpha! Japan's gross government debt-to-GDP scares me and all these banking liquidty issues (Softbank etc.) are also troublesome to Me.

  15. loved this, I actually bought some of the DXJ ETF a few days ago after doing my personal research. European Financials have done really well this year, would love to hear your thoughts on that!
