If the Yen continues to fall, those who borrowed in the Yen carry trade will make a killing converting from US$ to Japanese Yen.

Bessent is straight out lying when he says they are pursuing a stronger dollar. If you are going to deflate the dollar which every action he is taking does, at least own it and be straight about it. Don’t lie.
Bessent is outright lying about non-intervention. As the followup question was evaded with "US has strong dollar policy". Currency swaps like Argentina have certainly been done, or at least definitely are threatened, to help stabilize Yen. US buying Japan bonds is alternative to Japan selling US bonds, but one of those happened. Latter is circular financing ponzi scheme that is "sustaining" current economy.
As devaluation of the USD inevitably continues to reduce demand for US Bonds the Japanese would be very foolish to delay selling their US Bond holdings to purchase Yen.
