China urges South Korea, Japan to uphold free trade at three-way summit

China’s second-highest official has urged Japan and South Korea to reject protectionism and uphold globalisation as the countries commenced their first trilateral summit in nearly five years.
Chinese Premier Li Qiang made the remarks on Monday during a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and South Korean President Yoon Yeok-seol in Seoul, marking their first three-way meeting since December 2019.
Although the three leaders aim to promote greater economic cooperation during the summit, the agenda has been overshadowed by North Korea’s announcement of its plan to launch a satellite into orbit between 27 May and 4 June.

Al Jazeera’s Rob McBride reports from Seoul. Joining us live from Seoul to discuss the latest updates is Moon Chung-in, Professor Emeritus at Yonsei University and a former advisor to two South Korean Presidents.

  1. Nothing good can happen in the world until American hegemony is strong.
China and Russia are trying their best to save the world. But as America wants to reduce the population of the world no good step by any country is working.

  2. China called everyone to uphold free trade but china doesn't follow the rule lol. China only do things that's benefit them, not anyone else lol

  3. What Korea needs is not China or Japan. North Korea, that is, South Korea, seems to need a unified Korea. Then, about 30 years after unification, it will likely be a country with a population of 100 million and the world's third largest economy and military power.

Seeing that Korea has grown from one of the poorest countries in the world to one of the richest in just a few decades, I am looking forward to a unified Korea.

  4. Things have changed a lot since the end of the Cold War, now many countries are seeing who's the real culprit that causes so much harm in the world and pretends to follow good values human rights and all that BS but in reality, the strategy is to divide and conquer
