Japanese Yen Stronger in 2025 vs USD?

  1. Awesome video, John! So many hardworking people in Japan. I’m happy about the idea that the yen will strengthen and wages will go up. Thank you for the video and the update! We’ll see what happens!

Also, would love to see a video/live stream about the Nishi Koyama area in Shinagawa/Meguro sometime! There’s a charming shotengai with some shop owners with touching stories right outside the station. Thanks for all your hard work, John!

  2. I personally think around 130-140 yen could be the sweet spot. It will increase the common people's purchasing power and lower import costs, but still able to keep export-oriented companies competitive

  3. Aloha my brother. This is great news for Japan! O.50% is huge and I'm sure will help make things a little better there for everyone living in Japan. I'm sure the local businesses will appreciate a slight boost in sales activity from the residents. No more closing of ramen shops! Mahalo for sharing this information my bro. Have a great weekend! 🤙

  4. Thanks John, great info on the Yen and bank of Japan.
I really appreciate all of your content, it’s been helpful for planning our trip.
My family and I will be in Tokyo/Osaka for the first time mid February.
    Keep up the great work!

  5. I really admire the postman that climbs up mountains to deliver the mail. The devotion required to take on such a task is phenomenal. He is an inspiration to us all! 😊❤⛰️🏞️🌄📰🗞️✉️📪📬📨💌📦📫📝

  6. Japanese people and government helps us so much during ongoing russo-Ukrainian war, so we all wish Japanese economy quickest recovery and prosperity. When it is possible, we with brothers in arms buy JPN products as a solidarity gesture, although it might be more expensive.

  7. It would also be interesting to hear how the strengthening Yen affects other currencies such as CAD, AUD, Euro, Pound etc. How did you manage to get the cookies home in one piece? Or did you follow @Jason Bourgeois' advice and eat some to lighten the load? 😂

  8. Note: it was a .25% rate hike taking it to 0.5 which is …. still insanely low by western standards.
The yen sank again 4 hours after this! Hahaha! That’s the currency market, but I think rather than the yen’s weakness, it’s the dollar’s strength … politically, PM Ishiba has a fractured party, it’s not going to be easy to get things done unless they’re pressed by external forces like tariffs etc. it’s helps him IMO but time will tell. Ultimately this year, I do see the yen getting stronger and I see the dollar getting stronger but which will win out? It could be the case that if Japan does NOT strengthen the currency with action like this, it would dip below ¥160 or more if the US surges. It’s fun to see how the winds blow in the USDJPY market.

  9. … Please, I don't think you should be making calls on what you think the currency rates will be and throw out numbers like 125 to 135, especially if you can't get the simple facts right that the rate hike was 25bps as opposed to 50bps. Just because the BOJ increased policy rates 25bps doesn't mean the yen will get stronger. The market consensus already factored that in, and adjusted currency rates accordingly a while back, thus this rate hike made almost zero difference to the market. There's a lot more that goes into determining currency exchange rates than a measly 25bps rate hike.

  10. So what you're saying is that I need to start moving the money into our Yuucho account before the yen gets stronger. xDD I feel bad when I do that because our US savings account has 4% interest lol.

  11. Actually the biden admin wanted more inflation and prices to rise to make the US more dependent on the government. Fortunately we along with Trump took the trash out. Your welcome.

  12. I hope the Yen strengthens higher for the Japanese people to flourish compared to the world. The other countries and foreigners have been taking advantage on the Japanese quite too long already. I'm glad it's time to change.
