Dog-sled race in Hokkaido a howling good timeーNHK WORLD-JAPAN NEWS #shorts

People in Hokkaido in northern Japan brought their furry friends out into the snow for an amateur dog-sled race on Sunday. Participants from near and far gathered at a sports park in Fukugawa City to join the fun. Single-dog sleds ran a 500-meter course, while two-dog sleds took on a challenging 1,200-meter track. The dogs pushed their way through the snow, encouraged by the cheers of onlookers. Some canines still couldn’t quite make it to the finish, but all the pooches were nonetheless showered with praise from their owners. A woman from Tochigi Prefecture who joined the event said the hills were intense, but it was a lot of fun. A local elementary school student watching the spectacle said the dogs looked very happy.
