Fukui Prefecture is known as the dinosaur capital of Japan, accounting for about 80 percent of all fossils found in the country. Now, the prefectural university is launching Japan’s first department dedicated to dinosaur studies. Students will do excavation field work and study fossils using cutting-edge 3D scanning technology. The inaugural class starts in April.
