  1. Japan's demographic problem (too few young) is a result of past economic problems. China's much worse demographic problem (shockingly askew sex ratio) is a result of the truly dumbass 1-child policy (1980-2015, loosened further in 2021) paired w/ China's being so strongly male-dominated – many cultures share that trait. Japan faces trouble. China is doomed.

  2. I just feel sad for Japan. I may not live there, but I empathize. They got a rough gig and it feeds into social problems. Get well soon, Japan <3

  3. As an economist Japan’s xenophobia has hurt it as its population with no Immigration it lost it manufacturers to low wage south east asia

  4. When examining a nation's economic health, you need to look at the balance sheet and not just the amount of debt.
Japan held the world's highest amount of asset in form of various foreign treasury bonds and intergovernmental credits through low interest development loans to other nation.
The main reason Japan fell into stagnation is the misguided Ministry of Finance policies not enjecting enough stimulous into the nation. Believing that treasury bonds are a bad thing not really understanding fundamentals on how economy works.
The US is facing a simular situation where the global market selling US treasury bonds through no confidence towards the US economic policies with the chicken coming back to roost with the inbalance in distribution of wealth.

  5. I've been getting into early William Gibson and interfering with Japanese interests was an insane thing to do. That sure changed IRL.🤔
