India Set To Overtake Japan As 4th Largest Economy In 2025 | World News

All right, in a major economic milestone, India is poised to become the world’s fourth largest economy in 2025, overtaking Japan. According to the latest world economic outlook report by the IMF, the IMF predicts India’s nominal GDP to reach 41.9 trillion dollars in 2025, slightly ahead of Japan’s estimated $4.18 trillion, reflecting India’s sustained economic momentum and strong fundamentals. Now this development marks a major step towards India’s vision of a $5 trillion economy. A goal that the report says India could achieve as early as in 2027. Well, looking ahead, India is also expected to surpass Germany by 2028, becoming the world’s third largest economy. By then, India’s GDP is forecast to grow to 5.58 trillion, compared to Germany’s predicted $5.25 trillion. Despite India’s impressive rise, the top two global economic uh economies, the US and China are expected to maintain their positions. The US is predicted to hold a GDP of $30.5 trillion, followed by China at 19.2 trillion in 2025. The IMF report also signals a broader transformation in the global economic landscape. After over eight decades of stability, the world appears to be entering a new phase of economic reordering and India is seen as a key player in shaping this emerging order. However, in the face of global uncertaintities, including trade tensions and tariff conflicts involving the United States, the IMF has slightly revised India’s GDP growth forecast for 2025 from 6.5% to 6.2%. Despite this adjustment, India remains one of the fastest growing major economies in the world.

According to the IMF, India is poised to become the world’s fourth-largest economy in 2025, surpassing Japan’s GDP. India’s economy is expected to reach $4.187 trillion, driven by rapid growth and economic expansion.

  1. I guess some developed country gave the script to stage pahalgam attack to stop this unstoppable growth.. Probably the United States..

  2. Japan population is half of uttar pradesh. Its shameful to compare India's GDP with Japan. Compare the indigenous Hi Tech, Electronics of India with Japan. Its negligible when compared with Japan and south korea. I beg govt to focus on indegenous Hi tech and electronics which we are lagging for 70 years compared to Japan. For how many years we will continue to import and assemble the parts saying "Make In India". Shame on us.

  3. Actually GDP if Japan as per population is very higher than the GDP of india as per population. But its very good of growing its GDP year on year
