Volcanic activity surges at SakurajimaーNHK WORLD-JAPAN NEWS #shorts

Ash and smoke are spewing from Sakurajima in Kagoshima Prefecture, southwestern Japan. The volcano has erupted almost 120 times in the six days starting May 15. That’s more than the figure for all of last year. The plumes rose as high as 2,900 meters at one point. Authorities are warning of more activity, including ashfall, large cinders and pyroclastic flows in areas roughly within 2 kilometers of the two craters.
