It ceased operations in 2009. The disused facilities in the entire rail line were donated to the people of Kosaka and Odate. Then in 2014, the former Kosaka station was reopened as a tourist facility featuring old steam trains and the chance to try driving a train. It’s loved by rail fans and families.
