It looks like it’s such a far cry from when I went five years ago now. I would never behave like this even in my own country in public let alone another and when I went to Japan five years ago I would even bow to every train conductor that would bow to everyone on the train despite me being the only one doing it as not even Japanese commuters did that as they were so engrossed in their phones etc

Japan should ban tourists 6 months out of the calendar year. Calculate the busiest influx of profit per each month and cross reference that amount to their day to day economy.
Then enforce strict etiquette policies to the remaining 6 months of the open tourist policies by using a 3 strikes and you are forever banned from re-entering Japan.
