Aggiornamento BYD – Accuse contro il produttore di veicoli elettrici numero 1 al mondo

it’s the monthly BYD update this is like the ninth time I’ve done one of these nine times nine times nine times in all the previous episodes the news was very positive for BYD growing sales and great products this time however it’s a different story let’s start off this episode by looking at the controversy that has caused one of BYD’s Chinese competitors to speak out against them and the Chinese government to issue a very public warning both are clearly talking about the largest EV maker in the world [Music] byd sales were solid in May continuing to show no weakness better year-over-year and marginally better month over month surprisingly battery EVs have taken back the sales lead over plug-in hybrids reversing the trend that we saw last year so how do they do it well if you ask the chairman of Great Wall Motor he’d tell you they cheat he compared an unnamed leader in new energy vehicles to Everrand everrand was the high-flying fast-growing real estate developer in China who went bust and sent shock waves through the Chinese economy it was a smaller version of the 2008 housing collapse in the US that led to the Great Recession he said the state of the auto industry is unhealthy and the Chinese government shares his concerns zero mileile used cars are a trick that is not unique to China if you want to report better new vehicle sales number you could report the vehicle sold as new and then immediately transfer it to the used car lot for sale there’s one problem with this it’s lying fraudulent automakers get in trouble for schemes like this in the US too also the government hands out incentives for each new NEV sale so they aren’t happy about that either byd and Dongfong were called in to talk to the principal about what’s going on china also issued a public warning about further escalating the NEV price war byd slashed prices of its mainstream models up to a third off on some of them the Seagull which makes headlines outside of China it’s now less than $8,000 US equivalent the price of NEVs in China are unnaturally low yes they have lower labor costs and the supply chain needed to make them cheap but they are artificially cheap i do not try to compare the price of Chinese vehicles to those outside of the country they are night and day different as a result of the price war that has shed blood and is on the verge of a massacre china wants their auto industry to find customers elsewhere in the world byd is doing their part in May 23 and a half percent of their sales were overseas most vehicles coming out of China but also from their plant in Thailand byd outs sold Tesla in Europe that’s due to the growing awareness of the BYD brand competitive price and products it’s also a reflection of how much Musk’s far-right shift has pissed off consumers there and I won’t totally nerd out in this episode about the ships but the Shenzen did arrive in Brazil with nearly 7,300 NEVs for sale expect to see more of this in other countries speaking of overseas markets BYD does sell in Japan and recently they cracked the top 10 for import brands foreign brands struggle mightily in the Japanese market to help boost sales BYYD is developing a car specifically for the market that fits their K car category we don’t know the specs but we do know about this general class of vehicle as it’s unique to Japan this class of car is limited in length to 3.4 m and a width of 1.48 m and a gentleman’s agreement to limit the power output to 63 horsepower so we should assume BYD will play by these rules if you remember the Scion XB that was sold in the US K cars are the same cool boxy shape but significantly smaller and less powerful but they are legal for highway use in Japan japan has been very skeptical of battery electric vehicles but their corporations have slowly been shifting development to BEVs and in this microclass of vehicle Nissan and Mitsubishi do jointly make an allect electric version in Europe BYD relaunched the Seagull as the Dolphin Surf with an attractive new price it’s much smaller and less expensive than other competitors from what we know of the future Volkswagen ID everyone if that’s what they really want to call it the BYD goes headtohead except you can buy a Dolphin Surf now in Europe while the ID1 is a year and a half away while BYD total sales have been strong sales of the Young Wong brand have not their U7 sedan which was revealed a while ago finally started rolling off the assembly line destined for real paying customers i previously covered the Funan Bao Tai 3 and now a larger TAI 7 has been spotted testing thai which means titanium means it’s a battery EV an allect electric not a PEV or an e-rev i will keep going back to this chart that BYD made showing their different brands and I need to work on my own version so that I can add the many many more models that they come out with is it wrong for me to say that they have too many models an entry-level sedan was released the BYD E7 that naming scheme represents their budget-minded lineup well suited for taxi or other fleet use it has less content than the Quinn L EV although it’s about the same size technically this is not part of their ocean design series it’s more of an off-men vehicle for fleet use the BYD Shark 6 pickup sold in markets like Australia and Mexico is not sold in China but a more car-like version has been spotted and expected to be sold in their home market it’s likely the same platform but with more sculpted bodywork the production version of the Denza Z was also spotted without that huge rear wing and ground effects package you see my video on that concept i thought it would be optional like a track package for those who want more downforce but less range and I’ll say it again this is BYD’s best looking car if they keep this up across their whole lineup look out and speaking of too many models to keep up with Denza filed information with the Chinese government for a model called the N8L which appears to be a marginally smaller than the Denza N9 the N9 has been selling well given its premium size and price the founder of humanoid robotics maker Ubetch took delivery of the 10,000th model produced for months now BYYD has testing those robots at its plant one last story to mention about BYD in this episode is their recent efforts to fight back against corrupt social media creators and in influencers suing them in court for financial damages for deliberately misleading comments and winning hundreds of thousands of dollars from them well okay well I hope this is not the last BYD update from me so if you found this information fair and accurate then hit that like and subscribe button and thanks for watching
