worst mistake we ever made was letting Nixon get off the gold standard what he’s referring to is in 1971 given the fact that United States government didn’t have enough gold to back up the dollar because the dollar was based on gold President Nixon took the dollar off the gold standard and so when foreign uh governments and anybody invests in US debt or bonds it’s backed by the full faith and credit of the US government look sharp today boys especially your rookies the Nick high index closed up 90 points last night we expect heavy Japanese buying on the opening this is accurate because back in the 1980s the US economy is much more dependent on the Japanese economy now the Japanese markets in NK hit an all-time high around 1990 of course has much less of an impact on the US economy
