List of Japanese foods you HAVE to Try

Here’s what I ate in a day as a 25-year-old in Tokyo. For breakfast, we’re going to my local bakery because believe it or not, Japan has some of the best bread in the world. And one bread you got to try when you’re here is the curry pond. This one specifically was introduced on TV and even won first place in the curry pond competition. This bread cost me 300 yen, which I think is a pretty good deal. I spent the day in Harajuku and wanted to try Matcha Tokyo, but it was brutal lining up under the sun, so I went to this other place right across the street with no line and indoor seats. The matcha was meh, but at least there was air conditioning. I’ve also been craving ramen recently, so for lunch, I went to this place that specializes in Hokkaido style ramen, where I got the buttercorn ramen. It’s buttery, savory, and has a nice hint of sweetness because of the corn. For dinner, I wanted something a little more light on my stomach, so I got sushi, which is usually my go-to when I’m not that hungry, but still want some food and protein. I only had five plates, but this is how much it costs for two

  1. Can you do a day eating only vegan food in Japan? I was there in 2023 and had an amazing time eating only vegan food, my non vegan friends even enjoyed the spots we went to! I’d love to see what you find ❤️

  2. At first I wondered if it was weird to use a piece of pickled ginger to baste your nigiri–then I spotted the plate of wasabi mixed soy sauce next to it. SHAME.

  3. Well, as a European I cannot agree that Japan is one of the countries with best bread. I can tell this as I’ve live 4 years in Japan and over 20 years in Sweden and 4 years in Germany.

  4. Seeing this while forgetting I bought melon pan (sweet bread with cookie crust.) at a Japanese market. Kind of reminds me of conchas(Mexican sweet bread). Eating it while typing. Not bad made locally in California by Nijiya.

  5. Lmfao at the matcha being meh. Its clear why other side had a line and the ac place didnt. So i wasnt surprised to see that reaction. 😂

  6. I am practicing listening skill ! Her accent is not difficult at all ! By the way, bread price tends very expensive in japan. Basically the milk price is very pricey
