“Tariff rate unchanged…”, Japan PM Shigeru Ishiba’s firm response to Trump after US tariff letter

[Music] at the current time there are some points on which the United States and Japan cannot reach agreement still remaining and therefore no agreement has yet been made. This is because we as the government of Japan have avoided making easy concessions and have pursued robust talks seeking what we ought to seek and defending what we ought to defend. We have made some progress through repeated dialogue with the US side. As a result, the letter at this time leaves the tariff rate effectively unchanged rather than the 30 or 35% recently conveyed by President Trump and extends the deadline for negotiations. We have also received a proposal from the United States that it would like to proceed swiftly with negotiations in the leadup to the new August 1st deadline as the content of the letter may be reviewed based on Japan’s response. It is deeply regrettable that the US government has announced a further increase in tariffs in addition to the rates already imposed.

“Letter at this time leaves tariff rate effectively unchanged”, Japan firmly replies to Trump’s ‘tariff letter’. Japanese PM Shigeru Ishiba said that negotiations with US to seek bilateral trade deal will continue. Japan received proposal from US to continue trade discussions until the newly set August 1 deadline, said Ishiba. PM Ishiba said, “At the current time, there are some points on which the United States and Japan cannot reach agreement, still remaining, and therefore no agreement has yet been made. This is because we, as the government of Japan, have avoided making easy concessions and have pursued robust talks, seeking what we ought to seek and defending what we ought to defend. 1. I live in canada and drive their cars. Best in the world. Never had a problem. Love them. They are the kindest gentle people you would ever meet. It's good to have choices. If you put a wall around your self no one will not want anything to do with you.

  2. Hey Japan come talk to Canada we will work deals with you and by-pass the U.S. until D-chump is out of office just to let everyone know D-chump is in only for 2 more years

  3. It is unbelievable that those comments here is against our president and not against the countries that have high tariffs against American products…

  4. We have a huge deficit thanks to the Democrat Party so instead of holding them accountable he's making us pay for the deficit and all these countries wasn't Japan going to make a deal with him because we're not number one anymore and it's about time people realize that fact nobody wants to do business with a bully. They're going to stop bringing their cars in here and we won't be able to afford anything he is killing us because he refuses to hold this deep State accountable oh they all have billions of dollars I want to know why they passed that bill because they're all a part of this I don't trust him at all now

  5. No need to scare of Trump or US. They are the bullied and want to control the world!

We need to stand on own feet. Protect ourselves. No need to let us down and worry from the threats of others. We just need to look after ourselves and our own country!

    Proud for Japan!👍🏻❤️😀
    Thank You! 🙏🏻

  6. It will also he deeply regrettable that Japan may have to sell off some US bonds and crash the US stock market and economy to make a point about tariffs and business partnerships.

  7. Hold firm Japan. Stand up to the bully. All countries should stand together and tell Trump if tariffs don’t stop by a certain date then we will cease all important trade. Yes this will hurt but it will cripple the USA within days. Even if you sign a trade deal Trump will continue to impose tariffs on other items.

  8. Japan and China should unload their US bonds, and Italy and Germany should demand its gold reserves returned. America is never to be trusted again. If they think they can do without the rest of the world, let them find out. They country is broke and relies on loans

  9. JPan walk away from trum deal with Canada and Mexico and Europe no one needs to be a slave to trump you are not pesants as trump would have you bleave

  10. Congratulations to Japan. America should know
It’s rude and disrespectful to address another nation in this manner. Japan should starts talks with European leaders snd Canada. No bullying no disrespect no idiotic rhetoric
Stand strong Japan. You are the land of the rising sun. So rises up and be strong in all your dealings with the criminal TRATOR trump 🇯🇵

  11. We have made Japan and South Korea right buying their goods but they want it all, too include free protection from China. That is in no way fair or reasonable. It’s time they play fairly and import as much as they export or at least open their markets fully.
