IDAHO THROUGHOUT THE DAY ON “AMERICA’S NEWSROOM.” >> President Trump: I JUST SIGNED THE LARGEST TRADE DEAL IN HISTORY, MAYBE THE LARGEST DEAL IN HISTORY WITH JAPAN. IT HAS TO BE GREAT FOR EVERYBODY. IT IS A GREAT DEAL. A LOT DIFFERENT FROM THE DEALS IN THE PAST, I CAN TELL YOU THAT. BUT WE ARE DOING REALLY WELL AS A COUNTRY. WE’RE STRONG. WE HAVE A LOT OF MONEY FLOWING IN. >> Gillian: PRESIDENT TRUMP ANNOUNCED HISTORIC $550 BILLION TRADE AGREEMENT WITH JAPAN. ECONOMIC WINS GETTING THE ASHEN ATTENTION OF MAJOR INTERNATIONAL CORPORATIONS, ASTRAZENECA CONFIRMED INVESTING $50 BILLION IN VIRGINIA MAKING THAT COMMITMENT. LET’S BRING IN GLENN YOUNGKIN, GOVERNOR OF THE COMMONWEALTH. GREAT TO HAVE YOU WITH US THIS MORNING, GOVERNOR. THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE. THE WHITE HOUSE INTERESTINGLY SHARING SOME NEW DETAILS WITH US ON THIS JAPAN TRADE AGREEMENT JUST THIS MORNING THAT I THINK WILL OBVIOUSLY IMPACT YOUR STATE A GREAT DEAL. THEY ARE TELLING US JAPAN IS COMMITTED TO BUYING 100 BOEING AIRCRAFT. 8 BILLION IN AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS FROM THE UNITED STATES AND BOOSTING DEFENSE SPENDING WITH U.S. FIRMS FROM 14 TO 17 BILLION ANNUALLY. >> THIS IS A GIANT TRADE DEAL THAT WE’VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR. KNEW IT WAS IN THE WORKS. LET ME TELL YOU $550 BILLION OF INCREASED OPPORTUNITY FOR VIRGINIA COMPANIES, FOR AMERICAN COMPANIES, BUT INVESTMENTS IN THE UNITED STATES THAT WILL COME WITH IT AS WELL. I AM PARTICULARLY PLEASED TO SEE THIS COMMITMENT TO BUY AMERICAN PRODUCTS, TO REDUCE TRADE BARRIERS. LET ME JUST TELL YOU AGRICULTURE IS A BIG PART OF THIS DEAL AND VIRGINIA’S LARGEST PRIVATE INDUSTRY IS AGRICULTURE. WE EXPECT TO SEE OUR DEFENSE COMPANIES BENEFIT FROM THIS, PHARMACEUTICAL INVESTMENT COMING INTO THE UNITED STATES. SEMI CONDUCTOR INVESTMENT COMING INTO THE UNITED STATES. SUPPLY CHAINS FOR ADVANCED MANUFACTURING COMING TO THE UNITED STATES. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT PRESIDENT TRUMP’S TRADE STRATEGY HAS BEEN ALL ABOUT. I WILL TELL YOU, WHEN WE SAW THE DEAL CUT WITH THE UNITED KINGDOM, I WAS IN THE OFFICES OF ASTRAZENECA THE NEXT DAY TALKING ABOUT INVESTING IN THE UNITED STATES. THIS WEEK WE SAW THIS JUST LANDMARK COMMITMENT FROM ASTRAZENECA TO PUT $50 BILLION INTO MANUFACTURING IN THE UNITED STATES WITH THE LARGEST PIECE OF THAT MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR INVESTMENT INTO THE COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA. THESE TRADE NEGOTIATIONS ARE BENEFITING AMERICANS, BENEFITING AMERICAN INVESTMENTS AND VIRGINIA IS REALLY BEING A BIG WINNER HERE. >> Gillian: WASHINGTON HAS BEEN LIT UP THIS WEEK OVER THE ISSUE OF A.I. AND HOW ITS DEVELOPMENT WILL IMPACT AMERICAN WORKERS. MASS FEARS ACROSS THE COUNTRY ABOUT THE TECHNOLOGY ULTIMATELY REPLACING A WHOLE LOT OF JOBS. WHAT IS YOUR THINKING ON THIS WHEN IT COMES TO WORKERS IN YOUR STATE? >> LET’S JUST BEGIN WITH THE REALITY THAT A.I. IS GOING TO BE PART OF EVERY BUSINESS PROCESS AND EVERY JOB GOING FORWARD. IT IS GOING TO BE ABLE TO ENABLE BIG INCREASE IN PRODUCTIVITY AND, OF COURSE, IT’S ALSO GOING TO ALLOW US TO MOVE TO A MUCH MORE SOPHISTICATED ADVANCED MANUFACTURING TO MOVE MORE QUICKLY AND I THINK VIRGINIA WILL BE A BIG WINNER HERE. WE’RE THE LARGEST DATA CENTER MARKET IN THE WORLD AND WE’RE SEEING BILLIONS UPON BILLION ELSE OF DOLLARS INVESTED IN OUR DATA CENTER AND ADVANCED A.I. INFRASTRUCTURE. IT WILL ALSO REQUIRE A BIG RETOOLING OF A LOT OF THE WORKFORCE. WE WERE ABLE TO LAUNCH LAST WEEK AN A.I. TRAINING FOR ANYBODY IN VIRGINIA IN PARTNERSHIP WITH GOOGLE. SO IF YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU NEED TO KNOW MORE ABOUT A.I. YOU CAN GET AN A.I. FOUNDATIONAL COURSE CREDENTIAL FROM A FREE TRAINING SESSION WITH GOOGLE. COME TO OUR WEBSITE VIRGINIA HAS JOBS.COM/A.I. AND YOU CAN BEGIN TO BUILD A BRAND-NEW SET OF SKILLS THAT WILL ENHANCE YOUR CAREER. AT THE END OF THE DAY WE’RE SEEING TECHNOLOGY MOVE. IT IS BEING INCORPORATED INTO THE BUSINESS WORLD AND VIRGINIA IS AT THE FOREFRONT TO MAKE SURE WE HAVE THE VERY BEST WORKFORCE IN THE NATION IN ORDER TO MEET THE NEEDS OF FUTURE BUSINESS WHICH WE’RE SEEING COME TO VIRGINIA. LISTEN, ONE OF THE THINGS I’M SO ENCOURAGED BY IS ASTRAZENECA RECOGNIZES WE HAVE THE BEST WORKFORCE IN THE NATION, THE MOST BUSINESS FRIENDLY STATE IN THE NATION. SITES THAT ARE READY. WE TOOK THAT DEAL FROM FIRST MEETING TO ANNOUNCEMENT THIS WEEK IN 33 DAYS. WE MOVE AT THE SPEED OF BUSINESS, NOT THE SPEED OF GOVERNMENT. THAT’S CRITICALLY IMPORTANT AS WE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE OPPORTUNITIES THAT PRESIDENT TRUMP’S TRADE ENVIRONMENT IS CREATING. BUSINESSES WILL INVEST BILLIONS AND TRILLIONS INTO THE UNITED STATES AND I WANT A LOT OF IT TO COME TO VIRGINIA. >> Gillian: THAT’S PRETTY AWESOME RESOURCE YOU MENTIONED THERE ON THE COMMONWEALTH WEBSITE. ENCOURAGE EVERYBODY TO CHECK IT OUT. WE HAVE TO LEAVE IT THERE. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TAKING TIME WITH US THIS

  1. Deflection after deflection – anything to distract!!!
    RELEASE ALL THE FILES!
YOU CAN NO LONGER TRUST TRUMP.
HE DOES NOT TELL IT LIKE IT IS.

  2. Japanese don't buy American cars. WHY?
Because Japanese cars are better designed, more economical and FAR more reliable.
    Stop whining Trump.
    No-one wants your crap cars.

  3. Great for everybody except American importers and American consumers who get to pay 15% import/ consumption taxes … Trump the RINO strikes again!

  4. A win-win solution for both countries. The US got the biggest investments from an ally country while Japan is going to make big money selling their quality products to the US. China and Vietnam are out due to the tariff placed by Trump. Now we get to see plenties of great made in Japan products in the market just like back in 80s.

  5. American Automakers still need to review the details of the U.S.-Japan agreement, but any deal that charges a lower tariff for Japanese imports with virtually no U.S. content than it does North American-built vehicles with high U.S. content is a bad deal for the U.S. industry and U.S. auto workers,” said Matt Blunt, president of the American Automotive Policy Council, which represents the American companies Ford, General Motors and Stellantis.

  6. This 15% tarrif will cause that Japanese cars get a cost advantage if produced in Japan compared to any car brand producing in the US as the diversified supply chain is causing components to be taxed when entering US at a higher rate. No good news for GM and Ford, Tesla etc.

  7. P T the best. One more term!!!!!!!! He got used to White House and he is MAGA'ing left and right. Low tax and foreign investment. The Best deal ever!!!!

  8. Not for American car companies who spent billions to come into compliance with the Trump USMCA and are now faced with 25-30% tariffs on cars from Mexico or Canada while Japanese companies only have a 15% tariff!

  9. Japan fleeced the US on this one. The people end up paying more for everything and no new cars will go to Japan. Japan buys Boeing and the rest of the world buys from other areas

  10. All this means is that Trump pockets the tariffs as government revenue to be redirected to the most wealthy … nothing for normal Americans.
They just have to face the inevitable consequence of tariffs…. Inflation.
And then Trump tries to bully Jerome Powell into lowering interest rates. That would only turbo charge inflation.
Powell knows what he is doing.
    Trump doesn't.
    President Paedo is a fuckwit.
The world can see that clearly.
Why can't more of you Americans?

  11. Any other President would have just called it a deal.
If President Obama had negotiated it, Fox would have called it a traitorous act designed to hurt the US.
