12人を殺した恐怖の合宿…日本を変える為に集団リンチ【山岳ベース事件】
Have you ever followed the majority opinion unwillingly by nature? In February, 1972 in Mt.Kasho, Numata, Gumama, Japan, A large group of police officers were walking through the snowy mountains. In the midst of all this, one police officer shouted out with a start. Police: “Hey! Look at that!” He pointed to a battered shack.
The group entered the shack with caution and had a bad premonition about what they saw inside. Police: “This is not good.” Inside the shack were piles of dingy sleeping bags and backpacks. In addition, there were mutilated clothes and feces-soaked underwear strewn everywhere. The sight immediately made the police realize what had happened here.
About two weeks later, their bad premonition came true. Then, as many as 12 bodies were exhumed at the foot of the mountain. And the arrested perpetrator, without a hint of apology, said, Perpetrator: “I am a revolutionary warrior.” Perpetrator: “But they were different, that’s all.” Perpetrator: “Because if they are true revolutionary warriors,
They won’t die.” 12 young people living in a group in a mountain shack were murdered. What were the out-of-the-ordinary actions of the young people who stood up to change Japan in the Showa era? The abnormal rituals that took place in the closed space changed them into a group of murderers.
Osu! Osu! It’s time for a picnic. Ken chan here. It’s too early, isn’t it? I wanna eat ice cream even in winter. Yamiko here. I’m already feeling like spring. It’s very early, isn’t it? What do you bring to a picnic? Of course, sandwiches. – Sandwiches? I think everyone is wandering.
What kind of place are you planning to picnic? I guess Shinjuku Gyoen, for example. Whether it’s a picnic or not depends on my mood at the time. So it doesn’t matter where it is. Are you saying that going to a convenience store is a picnic?
If it’s an outing, that’s already a picnic, right? No, no, no, it’s different. I don’t consider going to the cinema a picnic. It’s just a matter of whether or not I myself would consider it a picnic. – That’s enough.
Today I would like to introduce you to a mountain base incident that 12 people died n the mountains of Gunma. We have previously discussed the Asama-Sanso incident. It was a horrific mass lynching incident committed by that same United Red Army.
When we talk about the United Red Army, it is about that student movement period, right? Were they also responsible for mass lynchings? The United Red Army was trying to renew Japanese society based on a certain ideology. Looking back on it now, it’s a pretty dangerous ideology. Who were they exactly?
Gathering in the Mountains In December, 1971 Mt. Haruna, Takasaki City, Gunma, Japan A man: “From this day forward, we will be based here.” Gathered in front of a shack quietly built in the mountains were 29 young people.
They were a group of males and females between the ages of 16 and 28 who had moved from the mountains in Yamanashi. They had been living from one shack to another for several months. This was because most of the members of this group were wanted.
They kept hiding in the mountains to escape police pursuit. And there was another reason for this group to live in the mountains. That’s because they can conduct military training without being seen. A man: “We have to become great revolutionary warriors!” These young people, both male and female, said so,
And worked on weapons maintenance and target practice. What exactly are these revolutionary warriors they are talking about? What were these young people fighting against? In Japan, in the midst of a period of rapid economic growth in the late 1960s, people’s lives rapidly became affluent. On the other hand, as the economy developed,
Social problems such as pollution and environmental destruction came to light. Even as Japanese society as a whole was buoyant, not a few citizens were anxious about such issues. One such issue that concerned many citizens was the Vietnam War, which began in 1955 and lasted for about 20 years.
The U.S. military: “Without Okinawa, the Vietnam War cannot continue.” The U.S. military, which claimed to have done so, flew bombers from Kadena Air Base in Okinawa to Vietnam and repeatedly attacked the country day and night. Some of the Japanese citizens who saw this up close and personal developed anti-war and anti-American sentiments,
And began to assert the following. Some Citizens: “Japan should adopt the ideas of the Soviet Union and China, not the United States.” Motivated by these thoughts, students developed a student movement against the capitalist-influenced governments of Western countries. They marched in helmets and rioted, throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails at the government and police.
Nor were students the only ones who marched. Unknown: “Make Japan a communist society.” Unknown: “Long live Mao!” It was an organization of workers with a leftist ideology that vociferously insisted so. Formed by young workers and students like them were the United Red Army, a group of 29 young people living in mountain shacks.
So that’s what “revolutionary warrior” meant. To put it quite bluntly, Japan was the kind of country, where a battle between government forces and revolutionary forces could happen a few decades ago. It’s hard to imagine that from a modern perspective at all. Here’s a closer look at this group called the United Red Army.
So tis leads to today’s keyword, about the United Red Army The United Red Army is a new left-wing organization formed in July 1971. The group was formed by a merger of the “Japanese Red Army,” a radical faction of the student movement, and the “Revolutionary Left,” a labor-oriented militant group.
Their goal was an equal society that eliminated capitalism and the gap between rich and poor. In other words, it was the realization of communism and taking advantage of the communist movements in the Soviet Union and China. They called themselves the United Red Army because the symbolic color of communism is red.
The two groups joined forces because their respective organizations had been weakened by the arrest of their members. The JRA, which had ample funds from repeated bank robberies, and the Revolutionary Left, which had robbed gun stores and possessed a large number of guns, had coincidental interests.
The United Red Army: “We are all revolutionary warriors!” The United Red Army: “We are the ones who will change the future of Japan.” The two exchanging pledges with serious eyes were Tsuneo Mori, leader of the United Red Army, and Yoko Nagata, deputy leader.
Mori was the leader of the JRA (Japanese Red Army), which was composed of students, and Nakata was the leader of the worker-centered Revolutionary Left. They recognized each other’s existence despite their rivalry. The members of the United Red Army, headed by Mori and Nagata, who were more ambitious than others,
All had high hopes for the success of the group. But it looked that way only at first. In fact, they were both people who were never really cut out to be at the top of their group. A member of the JRA: ”Chicken-hearted and indecisive, he is not cut out to be a leader.”
The leader, Mori, was secretly rumored to be so by those around him during his previous JRA days. He was able to become a leader because as the JRA’s activities became more intense, its leaders were arrested one after another. It was an unwillingness on the part of Mori himself.
Mori also had a sense of inferiority due to his low educational background and limited experience with women. He always felt a bit of a draw back, wondering if there was someone better suited to lead than he was. On the other hand, Nagata, the deputy leader, was short-tempered and hysterical.
She could be especially harsh and mean to females. Nagata felt inferior in appearance due to a chronic illness. So she was unusually jealous of females. The leader of the United Red Army, Mori, and his deputy, Nagata Their twisted personalities would later lead to the deaths of 12 young people.
So far, they certainly don’t sound like they have much of a group-uniting quality. These two killed 12 people, right? Mori, in particular, looks a bit feeble and like he could not cause a murder. Mori and Nagata had an unusually strong inferiority complex, which they tried to compensate for by putting others down.
Footsteps of Collapse Members of the United Red Army gathered with passionate ambitions. The days of living in a mountain shack while on the run from the police were extremely harsh. The season was winter. It was impossible to keep out the cold in the shack,
Which seemed to break down when the wind blew and they slept freezing, unable to escape the cold. With no bath or change of clothes and a toilet that did not function adequately, they were unable to keep their bodies clean. Living in hiding from the police
They could not go shopping no matter how much money they had, and they had to somehow share what little food they had. Crammed together in a shack of extreme poverty, extreme cold, and stench, the 29 members continued their military training day in and day out, aiming to become revolutionary warriors.
The same was true for Mori and Nagata, the leaders of the group, who were mentally driven into a corner during these days. Stressed out, they began to perform a certain ritual once a day using their position. It was the ritual of ‘summary’ that initiated this incident.
A member: “Even though I work in the mountains, I neglected to be prepared for emergencies and did not bring a water bottle.” A member: “This is due to my lack of awareness as a revolutionary warrior.”
So the ‘summary’ was a process of looking back on the day and confessing and reflecting on one’s problems. It was a favorite of leftist activists of the time as a way of thinking to overcome mental weakness.
The members who were to give a ’summary’ were decided by the leader, Mori, and the deputy leader, Nagata. Every member who was ordered the ‘summary’ was asked to criticize himself in front of others, and was removed from life and training until he/she was allowed to do so by Mori and Nagata.
They began to vent their anxiety about organizing themselves and the exasperation of their demanding lives by criticizing their subordinates. In the beginning, the summary was just a ritual of humiliation in front of the members. No one imagined at this time that this summary would become a murder ritual.
In short, this is power harassment taken to the extreme. It’s just too scary that it could lead to murder. As for Mori and Nagata from this point on, it was something I could never understand, no matter how radical ideology they had. On December 26, 1971
It was the sixth day of the United Red Army’s life on Mt. Haruna in Gunma. Nagata: “Don’t defile the sacred place.” Nagata: “Summary, both of you.” Deputy leader Nagata’s hysterical cries echoed through the shack. The reason for this was that she had seen the couple among the members kissing.
For Nagata, who felt inferior to good-looking women, a romantic relationship on the training field was an unforgivable act. Nagata: “These two are not communists. I will never forgive them.” The two were made to sit on their haunches in front of the members and reflect endlessly.
But no matter what they said, Nagata was never convinced. While watching her, the leader, Mori, mentioned this. Mori: “Let’s introduce a new teaching method. We’re going to to beat them now.” At this time, Mori was thinking back to an incident from his high school days.
Mori was a member of the kendo club when he was in high school. The day’s opponents were formidable, and a back-and-forth battle ensued. Mori staring at the opponent from inside the mask, trying to see an opening. A team member: “Hey, pull yourself together, Mori!” Then Mori was unconscious for a while.
When he opened his eyes, he saw the faces of his friends looking at him with concern. In the end, they lost the match at this time But with this experience, Mori was getting something he hadn’t had before. It was a different him, a different persona than he had ever been before.
So somehow, after this match, Mori became aware of things he had never noticed before, and became more accepting of things he had never been interested in. Mori: “Since that moment, I’ve been reborn.” Based on his experience in high school, Mori confidently told the members, Mori: “Beat them and have them lost conscious.”
Mori: “When they both wake up, they should be able to embrace communism.” It was a crazy theory by anyone’s standards, but this was the thought that went through the minds of the members. Members: “If I don’t beat them, I don’t know what he’ll do to me.”
Thus, the members began to beat up the two targets of the summary, one after the other. They were fearful at first, but their power grew stronger and stronger in the face of two people who did not faint easily. Mori: “Beating them is teaching and assisting them both.”
Mori was watching the lynchings with satisfaction. They were beaten for hours, begged and pleaded, but were not even allowed to go to the bathroom, and were assaulted while dribbling feces and urine. What is that crazy theory about fainting and being reborn?
I am sure it is absolutely false that Mori fainted and was reborn. As the summary became more extreme in this way, the first victims were finally made. The first member of the United Red Army to lose his life was
Not, in fact, the two who had been gotten the summary for the kissing incident. That person was Mitsuo Ozaki, a graduate of Tokyo University of Fisheries. How dare you call me a capitalist. Saying that, Ozaki beat up two of the summary targets. These words turned the tables on our leader, Mori.
Mori: “Don’t take personal vendettas out of the summary!” Thus, Ozaki became the subject of a summary the next day. At this time, no one was confused about beating the summary target anymore. In addition, even during the summary, Ozaki asked for tissues to wipe blood and mumbled the names of foods out of hunger.
Seeing his behavior, Mori became even more enraged. Mori: “It is inappropriate to ask for food. You are spoiled.” Mori repeatedly stood Ozaki up, who winced in pain, and repeatedly kicked him in the knee. Unable to stand up, Ozaki was tied to a tree and left there.
When a member went to check on him that evening, he quietly told Mori A member: “Ozaki was dead.” Mori: “What? He’s dead?” Mori turned pale for a moment at the member’s words. But when he noticed the eyes around him, he mended them and said Mori: “Ozaki died because of mental weakness.”
Mori: “If he were a true revolutionary warrior, he would not be dead.” Nagata nodded in agreement. Thus, they began to justify their murders, and the summary became a mere ritual of murder. It’s too fucked up. What is this meaningless ritual? Both Mori and Nagata were desperate to justify themselves.
In the shack, where there was no order or anything, A mass lynching finally began. A Disordered World After that, Mori and Nagata continued to take lives one after another in a group lynching that they called a summary.
The first couple to be lynched barely survived, but later froze to death while tied to a tree. A woman named by Nagata as not liking the fact that she was wearing a ring was beaten in the face so badly that her original shape was lost
,and shaved her head, and then she died a debilitating death. In addition to this, she killed one female member after another who showed signs of flirting with male members. Mori named highly educated or good looking members, lynching them to death. By the abnormal situation, with someone’s moaning echoing every day,
The members’ senses were completely deranged. Member A: “I have to beat up the person in front of me to knock the weakness out of me.” Member B: “As revolutionary warriors, we must respond to demands from the leaders.”
Still, however, there was a member who was determined to bring the situation under control, which was too unusual. Late January 1972 There was a man sneaking around the shack where the United Red Army was sleeping, checking the doorways and windows. A man: “I escape and immediately run to the police.”
A man: “If I testify that I had nothing to do with the murder, I can’t be charged with that much.” The man was Jun Yamazaki. He was trying to escape the madness of his environment, just in time to be alone. At that time, Mori: “Hey, what are you doing?”
Yamazaki was unexpectedly tapped on the shoulder, and when he turned around, standing there was the leader, Mori. Mori: “Are you trying to escape?” Mori: “Death Penalty.” Mori, along with several members, beat Yamazaki for hours. Then, several hours later, in front of a completely immobilized Yamazaki, Mori said in a cold voice
Mori: “Stab this guy with this.” Yamazaki looked up, wiggling his shoulders up and down. In Mori’s hand was an ice pick. please, please help me… But no one heard Yamazaki begging for his life. The mass lynching led by Mori and Nagata continued,
And in just two months, as many as 12 young people lost their lives. On September 17,1972, finally 8 people, including Mori and Nagata, were arrested by the police who came to the shack to investigate. Thus the case came to a close.
And what happened to the five members who escaped from this incident was the Asama-Sanso Incident. Eventually the leader, Mori, committed suicide by hanging himself in the detention center a year after his arrest. Deputy leader Nagata was on death row, but had a mental breakdown and died in February 2011.
United Red Army, which admired communism and tried to change society through violence. We are free to hold up our ideals, but nothing is more foolish than to use violence to realize them. Osu! Osu! Everyone, please look at what we wear. What do you think of this? As you guess,
We have new products now. We’ve been sold out of this product for about a year. But we have now new prodcuts here. The T-shirt is embroidered on the chest. On the back is an illustration by Chiaki Harada. The title of this illustration is “Measures”. I want you to look close.
People today live their lives measured by various so-called measures. This illustration satirizes that. This is a silk print, so it will not fall off. The product launched a year ago was wool lining. But for this product, we used pile fabric for the lining so that it can be worn lightly.
So we would be happy if you could purchase it now for the spring. And since we regret that we sold out the last time, this time, you can purchase the product for sure if you make a reservation by February 15. So this time, we are selling by reservation.
Conversely, we will close the reservation once on February 15. Resale has not been decided yet. If you are interested, I hope you will take a look at the brand “ALGOMETRY” in the overview section or in the fixed comments! Is there anything you do for your personal growth?
