Why U.S.-Japan Trade is Critical for U.S. Businesses and Investment
The Clayton Yeutter Institute of International Trade and Finance hosted Mike Boyle, President of Kawasaki Motors Mfg. Corp., and Wendy Cutler, Senior Vice President at the Asia Society Policy Institute (ASPI), for a discussion on U.S.–Japan economic ties at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
The November 19 event opened with remarks from Boyle, followed by an armchair conversation between Cutler and Jill O’Donnell.
Nebraska’s economic relationship with Japan remains strong: more than 120 Nebraska companies trade with Japan, exporting nearly $700 million in goods in 2024. Japan is also Nebraska’s largest source of foreign direct investment, totaling more than $4.4 billion since 2010.
The Yeutter Institute and ASPI co-sponsored the event with support from Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
