Japan Fails to Win U.S. Tariff Exemption Amid Trade Tensions | India Today Global
{India Today Global } Japan’s trade minister Yoji Muto failed to secure an exemption from the US’s 25% steel and aluminium tariffs set to begin on March 12. Despite Japan’s heavy investment in the US economy and job creation, President Donald Trump’s administration has yet to offer any assurances. Talks in Washington D.C. also covered Japan’s plans to buy more US liquefied natural gas (LNG) and discuss the Alaska gas pipeline project, along with Nippon Steel’s bid to acquire US Steel.
