Donald Trump’s aggressive “America First” tariff policies are reshaping international relations, pushing key U.S. allies like Japan and South Korea to reconsider their economic ties and potentially align closer with China.

Promises made, promises kept.
These clowns are upset because East Asian countries are lowering the temperature and discussing trade with each other.
Trump it’s like CEO’s son who inherited his daddy’s chair
Friendships are illusions while benefits are eternal in politics.
Don’t forget Trump withdrawal of TPP… also not good for China containment
Who knew that attacking your allies isn't a good strategy? Have they not played Civilizations? Are they stupid?
I have checked Chinese news papers like Global Times and didn’t find the headline you started with.
Isn't it quit obvious what's happening? US can't produce anything worth buying anymore and China is getting neck in neck in US's main pride, it's aviation equipment and AI. Unable to compete in the global market share of innovation the only thing the US can do is to slap tariffs on the competitors. So what do the US have left to compete with? Oil and gas, just like Russia and Saudi Arabia. So the US conservatives think it have to become like Russia and the gulf states. The rest of the world wanting to break it's shackle of dependency from perishable consumable energy that forces them into a economic relation with these states, because that dependency is also a national security threat to them, Well not having costumers becomes a threat to the entire new US energy export model, and just as a shift away from oil and gas threatens the economy of Russia and the gulf states it also threatens the US. This explains US entire pivot to relationship with Russia and the Gulf states, it's renewed interest with Israel as a military base to make sure the energy of the gulf doesn't fall into the hand of Iran and the entire tariff regime of allies that tries to wean of perishable finite energy resources.
Japan, China and the rest of the east Asia realize the issue with these dependencies and want to move away from it as US's commitment to anyone other then themselves have weaned. China's massive expansion into renewable energy, nuclear power and fission power isn't primary because of economics. They have access to cheap Russian energy they more or less can dictate the price of. (right now). But what happens when Russia runs out or their relationship sours, which it eventually will as it have many times in the past. They saw what happened to Europe and Russian relationship and how Russia payed their cards. It's a matter of national security for them. They know they can't rely on Russia, the gulf state or the US indefinitely for energy. So does Europe now. Russia messing with the energy exports to put pressure on Europe then explicitly targeting of energy infrastructure in Ukraine demonstrates how states like Russia and the US think's in terms of strategy, political pressure and it's approach to warfare against a modern country. These concerns are spreading as well.
The Republican party being in bed with the oil and gas industry in a way were it forces the US to stay away from investing in innovation into renewable and other alternatives is eventually gonna be the downfall of the US. The US gonna run out of the juice at some point within this century and once it does, China will be the one who sits on all the cards as the rest of the world needs energy infrastructure while the US is decades behind in that field. Why? Because you chose to please a couple of private oil and gas company owners instead of playing a long term game.
If you attack your allies economically and threaten their sovereignty and security then you ought not to be surprised that they question the value of your “alliance” and seek alternatives.
Sorry, but its true. Already Korean government confirmed antiTrump framework with China and Japan.
If China committed to becoming less aggressive and more open than I personally would be quite open to improving trade with them as opposed to the USA
Trump is the biggest. Spokesperson For brics .
USA are exploiting Ukraine for the old hand me down arms in an extortionate way, do you really think that anybody who is listening to leak in chat about how Europeans will pay in the future is likely to trust the USA’s protection, especially when they don’t even know the price tag which appears to go back into history.
If the dollar is no longer the world currency than what affect will that have on the US credit rating
It's amusing to listen to American commentators such as yourselves try to explain international affairs from the basic premise that the United States of America is the prize friend, ally and trading partner everyone else wants. Donald J. Trump has made the U.S. the poison dead weight that the rest of the world needs to throw overboard to save ourselves.
This current phase of America and American politics isn't "make America great again," it's the mad frantic flailing of a dying empire.
Not only Japan South Korea and China BUT the entire world now is planning to go against the crazyness of Trump tarrif… so it is naturally NORMAL… it is for the survival of their country and their people….
It's surprising that Japan & Korea is aligned to America & the West! Why would anyone align with someone more than 1000 times as evil as Hitler?
Trump is going to decimate our exports.
This is end of dollar😅
Heard the stuff that China can't believe their luck that they don't need to do anything, Trump is dismantling the US al by himself. This man is such an idiot I can't believe it anytime he speaks. It is shocking that a man like Trump is The leader in America.
All the talk in the US about being tough on communist China is ridiculous. The 'communist china' is now the world's innovation hub, had a current account surplus in 2024 of $1 trillion while the US paid the same amount in interest payment on the national debt in the same year. Global trade is undergoing a realignment now and Americans are still living in the past while the world has changed and is till changing
I just watched Japanese news on the NHK WORLD, curious to know if (what one of the contributors to this podcast said) the new trade agreement between Japan, China and South Korea was Chinese propaganda. The same news was reported by NHK, so it appears to be true, and not at all propaganda. It would have been easy to check other sources, as I did, before uploading the episode on YouTube.
Japan and Korea just want to low key this as it does want to attract attention of the clown in the white house. I think the world is shifting closer to China, but no one wants to make a big deal of it fearing more retaliation from Trump.
The mere fact that they spoke about a possible cordination in how to respond to Trump's attacks on the owrld economy is the important part. Remember that Trump warned against Canada coordinating with Europe against his war. With his "day of liberation" coming and attacking the economies of any many countries, you can expect a whole lot of retalitations from around the world.
With the Trump regime planning huge fines for any chinese ship docking in USA, the way around it is an agreement with large shippers to have chinese goods destined to USA travel on competing non-chinese shipping companies, while chinese ships would then serve these companies for non USA destinations. (think code-sharing but for containers ).
The United States has no idea of the permanent damage Trump is doing to the USA. You will end up with a vastly shrunken local economy which won't participate in the workd economy, no exports. Even miliatry gear will now be procure from Europe and elsewhere instead of USA. From inside the USA, you have no idea of the strenght of the reaction around the world to the Trump regime.
Why wouldn't this be the beginning of a "gigantic new geopolitical realignment"? I don't have to remind the folks at The Bulwark of what the U.S. has become. In World War II, the U.S., UK, and USSR were strange bedfellows, too, but former adversaries have been known to get cozy when they're faced with Pure Evil. Don't think it can't get that bad.
I think you missed the biggest point, Japan took over those two countries, and they still hold a grudge…. TODAY!
Japan Korea China releases a Joint Statement…. enough said. These three hate each other… to have them release a joint statement… something really wrong is happening elsewhere to force these three together.
this madman is actualy uniting the regions lol… Eu contries are geting even more connected, Also Asia… this 🤡 is actualy Nobel prize for peace contender 😀
ignorants, they traded way before USA existed 🙂
You think that the US is a better security partner than China? Then this video has no point.
The brilliance of Trump's mushy brains…
Rejecting the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) in early 2017 is not the same as what Trump is currently doing in shaking all our trade alliances and causing chaos with our allies. The TPP was a bad agreement according to many experts.
Haha
Australians want the following
🚫🇭🇲🇬🇧🇺🇲AUKUS
✅🇨🇦🇭🇲🇳🇿🇬🇧CANZUK
I just watched Korean journalist say the three have come together.
🚫🇺🇲
3 Countries were never close like this. Finally Trump made it
I guess Trump heard the prediction of the Delphi oracle "You will destroy a mighty empire"
Trump united 3 countries that hated each other for CENTURIES into working together. If you told me this 10 years ago, I would have laughed at you and say you’re insane 🤣
The truth is the world is moving on without the US.
Start time 1st July 2025. Who is a poor ??
Wait until the G7 becomes the G6 and the G20 the G19 because the others reject fascism. Only response Trump will have is his power to implement 25% tariffs.
All this is what 2025 wanted. We now know what they wanted the USA to become. Christian Right great job.
the president of peace indeed. and what the F the bald micheal guy talking about? This meeting between countries is all about the economy and nothing about security. this guy just has one talking point and keep repeating it selling the good old red scare
I don't think you people have the first clue just how powerful China is.
Does this mean chinese people will finally get a living wage? Sure their gdp is great, but it doesn't change the fact that there gdp to person avg is only like 7000. Which is lower than Mexico. While the USA is number 1, at like 80k. GDP doesn't mean shit if it isn't enough to support all the people in your country.
Walking away from TPP was a huge blunder.
9:20 welcome to Canada since the past 2 months "welcome to a situation where your major trading partner is not a security partner"
Trump. The swan song
Wrong! Trump supports Japan 🇯🇵, South Korea, and Taiwan 🇹🇼. Trump hates China 🇨🇳.
As long as US remain in an alliance,Japan will never betray, keep our promises, and will face US with respect.
Japan will take action only if US betrays us.
As a Japanese, of course we have to re-tariff with American products.(BTW,US tariffs for Japanese cars are 2.5%, Japan tariffs for US cars are ZERO)
But more important part is Trump threaten Japan that US might end the Alliance. That’s really disrespectful and unforgivable isn’t it?
No limits to the depths of his stupidity, aside from his other shortfalls.
Doing putin’s work. Now helping xi.
Make China great again
