Financial Times editor Gillian Tett joined #MorningJoe to break down how Trump’s tariff policy is backfiring — freezing global supply chains, pushing top American talent overseas, and strengthening economic rivals.
“In many ways, this is a massive own goal for America,” she said, warning that the tech and military systems we rely on are impossible without cooperation from countries like Japan, South Korea, and the Netherlands.

    No, we DO NOT have a bipolar world ! That kind of world ended with the end of the Cold War, and you should better become acquainted with the new multipolar world where new regional and global powers are competing with one another and in which the US is only one power among others on the international chessboard, a power that is in constant slow but steady decline since the 1950s.

    You forgot the main rare earths which China has up to a 97% dominance over, and the fact that they are the largest supplier of silicon wafers, while innovating to make them obsolete while gaining a 100% dominance over that…..too little too late….absolute lack of foresight

    2008 Asian countries were scared of China's

    Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), also known as One Belt One Road

    Obama negotiated the TPP trade policy where America and a bunch of Asian countries would have trade agreements excluding China.
    Now China's BRI was isolated

    Trump's 1st term rips up the TPP, for no other reason than it was done by a black guy (Obama). "It's terrible" (no reason given, origin of anti-DEI)

    Trump is really pushing tariffs … to replace the IRS revenue with the ERS revenue (external…) – Trump's next phase.

    So Billionaires don't pay taxes anymore.

    The US shouldn't view China as an enemy because they are not..China has not attacked the US. They have been supporting the US economy for the last 40 years. China has helped US companies like Apple, Tesla, Dell to be leading global companies and in turn created so many jobs for the US. DONT treat China as an enemy..in a world today, the US should work together with China. There is nothing to gain for Americans for being enemies with China. Recognize that China has grown up now and is a formidable economy. Why be jealous of them and hate them? Doesn't make sense.

    You deliberately miss the largest supply chain in the world which is China, in your misleading statement. UK has NO place in the chip supply chain any longer if not with imports from China either.

    Even the"good guys" in the US don't get that it isn't about the height of tariffs. It's thinking that this is still just about money. It's not. You really don't understand how much you dictator-people are disliked in the world. As we say in the Netherlands, trust comes on foot and leaves on horseback.
