🇯🇵 Japan’s economy hasn’t really grown in over 30 years… but why?

why is japan’s economy frozen japan was once an economic superpower booming in the 80s with technology exports and a crazy real estate market but then the bubble burst in the ’90s triggering a crash that japan never fully recovered from since then the country’s been stuck in a cycle of low growth low inflation and ultra- low interest rates basically economic sleep mode on top of that japan has one of the oldest populations in the world meaning fewer workers more retirees and weaker consumer spending companies tend to hold cash instead of investing and the central bank has kept interest rates near zero for years it’s not a crisis but it’s not real growth either that’s why many call it the lost decade
