Japanese scientist Kitagawa Susumu is one of the three scientists who won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry to have developed a new form of molecular architecture. Metal-organic frameworks potentially can separate chemicals from water, capture carbon dioxide in the air and even harvest moisture in the desert.
