The world’s largest trade agreement got a boost on October 27, 2025, as Asean leaders met in Kuala Lumpur with Chinese Premier Li Qiang, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, and Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi. The summit in Malaysia came at an important time for the world economy, as members hoped to make real progress in the face of high US tariffs that could slow growth in the Asia-Pacific region. The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) covers 30 per cent of the world’s economy, with Association of Southeast Asian Nations members at its core, along with major East Asian countries like China, Japan, South Korea, as well as Australia and New Zealand. The agreement was signed in 2020 in response to US trade barriers. Acknowledging these challenges, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said “the strategic importance” of the partnership “is clearer than ever”.

  1. Time, the Oriental economies create the Oriental Community; starting with China, Japan and Korea and maybe Vietnam, Mongolia. Once established, it should expand to the neighboring countries: Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and subsequently the rest of ASEAN. Such a community can rival the West or even the rest of the world.

  2. This is why ASEAN is so strong. China, Japan and S. Korea by themselves hardly talk to each other. EU is really missing out, busy figuring out how to steal Russian sovereign money.

  3. Единая безвизовая беспошлинная юановая зона была бы первым шагом к аннексии всех соседей Китая без единого выстрела, то есть всеобщее процветание в регионе.

  4. My Philippines is not part of ASEAN. we are part of America. We don’t care about our self respect or losing our culture and beliefs , we already lost them centuries ago. We will forever be the loyal dawg of our master, America

  5. No one is trying to divide Asia except your CCP government. If you can scram, get lost from South China Sea and yellow sea and stop your belligerence with the Philippines and Taiwan, that would be great.

  6. Despite the global upheaval brought by the most hated man on earth, many countries' leaders tried to outdo one another to kiss Trump's fat as#. 😂

  7. Most Asian countries are pragmatic and lookout for their own national interest, dialog is alway preferred rather than empty word driven narrative and spin. China growing middle class is a market that both S Korea, Japan and Asean cannot ignore building mutual prosperity needs hardwork, sacrifice and also money!

  8. Brunei is too small to make a difference.
    Cambodia is pro-China.
Indonesia is leaning towards China, so the US is creating unrest.
    Laos is pro-China.
Malaysia is leaning towards China, but Malays are racist against Chinese.
Myanmar is leaning towards China, so the US is supporting the NUG terrorists to overthrow the junta.
    Philippines is fully pro-US.
Singapore knows the future is China, but Singapore's leaders still think they can balance between China and the US.
Thailand is leaning towards China, so the US is creating unrest.

Vietnam will not throw in with the US when the war starts, but nor will it fully support China.
East Timor… probably pro-US. They still use the USD. There is no other choice.

  9. Typical China… keep on blaming external interference…. So you expect south East Asian states and others to seat there and do nothing just to watch you use your illegal 10 dash line to claim the whole of the sea ????? Come on, China, be fair in your arguments

  10. I bet Japan and ROk is rolling their eyes deep down in their mind when the timid China Premier is delivering his lame speech of external interference….. China is the only one complaining about external interference when other countries such as Japan and RoK have no issues with it 😂 even Cambodia and Laos, two of most pro-china state in ASEAN have no issues about external powers operating in the Indo-Pacific 😂😂

  11. There’s this Asian Homogeneity or Asian Values that we all have that keeps our peace and prosperity together, despite the difference in culture, religion, ethnicity, language, and identity.

This is what makes us stronger than Western Protectionism.

  12. Nice nice, Asia continue to work together and stay cooperating, don't divide yourself like Latin America and the Middle East, that is exactly how certain nations control you and the rest of the world so easily.
