Takaichi still has more than 70% approval and support from Japanese people . Sentiment that only grows every time chinese show their refined culture urinating or defecating in public monuments or shoplifting or making a scandal .
Anyway , Takaichi speech wasn't about this issue . Mentioning Taiwan Strait was merely something that was already in the Japanese constitution . The reality is that this brought a priceless opportunity to the chinese communist party , blow it out of proportion to deviate the attention of the chinese population. The action to link & lend Japanese support for Taiwan if it is threatened by China into a security issue for Japan is to secure Japanese Parliament support to raise Japan defense budget. This move was followed by announcing a salary cut for the Parliament to sweeten the request for the defense budget at the present Japanese economic hardship. All these is to appease US for containing China. She simply missed the critical problem Japan is facing now. It's the poor economy & the population getting older. There's no pragmatism in dealing with the real problems. What a shame indeed!
