Trump compares Iran strikes to Pearl Harbor in front of Japan’s PM

President Donald Trump compared the US/Israeli strikes on Iran to Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor during World War II in front of visiting Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi in Washington on Thursday.

When asked about why US didn’t inform its allies in Europe and Asia about the attacks, Trump said they wanted “surprise.”

“Who knows better about surprise than Japan? Okay, why didn’t you tell me about Pearl Harbor?”

Japan attacked US naval base Pearl Harbor in Hawaii on December 7, 1941, killing 2,390 Americans. The US declared war on Japan the next day.
