Japanese economy misses second-quarter growth expectations

Japan’s economy grew 1.1 percent in the second quarter, missing expectations as weaker domestic demand offset strong exports. On a quarterly basis, GDP grew 0.3 percent, slowing from the pace recorded in the first three months of the year and falling short of the 0.5 percent forecast.
