An annual event inspired by NHK’s year-end music festival, Kohaku, was held in Sao Paulo, Brazil on December 8. Brazilians of Japanese ancestry took to the stage. It was the 26th time the contest has taken place. Brazil has the world’s largest community of citizens of Japanese descent. But the number of those of the first generation is gradually decreasing.
