Young adults in Kitakyushu, a city in western Japan, splashed out in bright colors and unusual costumes in January, on Coming of Age day – celebrating becoming 20 years of age.
Though celebrations take place around Japan, Kitakyushu is famous for its unique style, and young people there took full advantage to let their hair down – or put it up, as the case might be, sometimes in rainbow colors.
In 2022, Japan’s legal age of adulthood was lowered from 20 to 18, but many people still mark the milestone when they turn 20. #japan #fukuoka #kimono #fashion
