A 108-year-old Japanese woman in Tochigi Prefecture has been recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s oldest female barber. Hakoishi Shitsui was born in 1916. After obtaining a barber’s license in Tokyo, she opened a salon with her husband in the capital. But he died during World War Two and they lost the store. Hakoishi then opened a salon in Nakagawa Town, Tochigi Prefecture, after the war ended. She still gets out her scissors when regular customers ask her for a cut.
