Japan is celebrating its relations with South Korea by lighting up Tokyo Tower in the colors of South Korea’s flag. The sight was part of celebrations to mark the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic ties between the two countries. The tower was illuminated in white, red and blue. Meanwhile in South Korea, Namsan Seoul Tower was lit up in red and blue, representing the colors of the two countries’ flags. More than 12 million Japanese and South Koreans visited each other’s countries in 2024, an all-time high.
