Inside a Myanmar scam centerーNHK WORLD-JAPAN NEWS #shorts

Operations to rescue foreign nationals forced to work in scam centers in Myanmar are ongoing. One armed ethnic minority group called BGF says it has freed more than 7,100 foreigners since January.
NHK has obtained footage taken from one of these centers, called KK Park, that BGF had raided. It provides a glimpse into the cramped conditions the trafficked workers had to endure and insights from some of the newly freed.
Since the 2021 coup in Myanmar, scam groups have become active in areas near the Thai border. They have lured thousands of foreigners with promises of high-paying jobs before forcing them to take part in criminal activities.
