Hello Kitty stars as Japan pavilion unveiled at Expo 2025ーNHK WORLD-JAPAN NEWS #shorts
The media was given a sneak peek of Japan’s pavilion at the 2025 World Expo in Osaka. The two-story building is the largest at the event and will serve as the host nation’s base and a guesthouse for foreign dignitaries.
The building’s theme is ‘Between Lives.’ The phrase refers to the cyclical process of carbon recycling. The pavilion will feature a facility that uses microbes to decompose garbage collected around the expo site. ‘Hello Kitty’ characters adorn the building interior, each one wearing a costume representing a different type of algae. The decor aims to promote algae as a substance that can be used for fuel and help address food shortages.
The Expo will run from April 13th through October 13th. About 160 countries and territories are set to take part.
