Japan-Philippines ties: Leaders focus much of their talks on defence, economic issues

Japan’s prime minister has held talks with Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr in Manila, as Tokyo looks to solidify alliances in the face of growing global uncertainty. The pair discussed areas of cooperation, including tackling sweeping US tariffs that could upend global trade. They also talked about security and defence, including China’s growing assertiveness in the South and East China Seas. Buena Bernal reports from Metro Manila.
