A glacier collapsed in the Alps in southern Switzerland, causing a massive mudslide. The sediment buried most of the houses in a village at the foot of the mountain and one resident is missing, Swiss media said.
Video shows the mudslide roaring down the mountain side in a huge cloud of dust.
The approximately 300 people living in the village had evacuated earlier after authorities issued a mudslide warning.
Local media say global warming may have thawed permafrost and destabilized the glacier.
