Unearthed footage shows cathedral in Nagasaki before atomic bombーNHK WORLD-JAPAN NEWS #shorts

Footage of Urakami Cathedral before it was destroyed in the atomic bombing of Nagasaki has been discovered in NHK’s archives. The building was first completed in 1925 and rebuilt in the postwar years. The video was donated in 1976 by Nakamura Shikaku, a kabuki actor and amateur cameraman. Records show he toured Nagasaki Prefecture in 1930, while a note attached to the footage says it was filmed the same year. The rare find is believed to be the oldest-known video of the cathedral.
