a new survey in thailand shows prime minister patongan chinowat’s popularity plunging with just 9% of respondents saying they support her criticism has been growing over her handling of recent border tensions with cambodia the poll conducted by a public research institute asked 2500 people who they think is best suited to lead the country as thailand faces ongoing political turbulence the results published sunday show paton khan support has tumbled from 31% in the same survey back in march natapong ruang pyawut of the opposition people’s party tops the latest poll with 31% up from 26% in the previous survey thousands of protesters rallied in bangkok on saturday calling for pong tan’s resignation she’s facing backlash over a leaked phone call with cambodian senate president hunen during their controversial rather conversation about the border disputes she seemed to disparage a thai army commander earlier in june a group of senators filed a petition with thailand’s constitutional court demanding the prime minister be removed from office the court is expected to decide tuesday whether to take up the case pakistan’s military says at least 13 soldiers were killed in a suicide car bombing in the country’s northwest islamabad is accusing india of involvement in the attack new delhi denies the allegation the military said in a statement that a suicide bomber rammed an explosive laden car into a convoy of security forces in north wazeristan district on saturday pakistan’s interior minister visited wounded personnel on sunday the military says three civilians were also injured north wazeristan is a mountainous region along the afghan border where islamist militant groups remain active the associated press reports that a pakistani taliban faction has claimed responsibility but pakistan’s military insists the attack was coordinated by india and carried out by a proxy group it said security forces exchanged fire with the group’s fired fighters and killed 14 of them india’s foreign ministry said it rejects pakistan’s claim with a contempt it deserves tensions between the two countries have remained high since military clashes in may despite a ceasefire in pakistan few educational facilities have been available for children with hearing disabilities a support group says the country has over 1 million such children yet less than 5% attend school nisha world’s nazar islam reports on one woman who’s fighting to change that scaru is a northern city where agriculture is the main industry 82 students from age 4 to 20 study at a school for people with hearing impairments first they learn sign language then other subjects like english they also study art religion and using computers the school is run by ani kabano what inspired her to establish the school was her daughter who was born deaf in some parts of pakistan people with disabilities are considered a curse from god and their families hide their existence many of these children are not allowed to go to school we were uh extremely fearful as well to raise her in the in the society where such people are not accepted at all when bano’s daughter was born only some big cities had schools for deaf children so bano learned sign language and began teaching such children at home she and her husband visited other families who had children with hearing disabilities and tried to persuade them that it was worthwhile to let their kids study 12 years ago they built the school named after their daughter najes kathun beside their home it’s run mainly through donations children from lowincome families study for free what’s up lives of kids with hearing impairments who often face prejudice which konen fatima and her family say they also endure [Music] fatima entered the school 9 years ago now she works part-time as a tailor to support her family i still think that um the stigma still exist in this society whatever we can do to minimize their difficulties so that they could fly high and they could do their best they could live at least a very happy life because happiness has to be like for everybody bananu says she hopes to create a society where everyone is accepted day by day at the school she is making that happen islam nhk world and that wraps up our bulletin i’m rosen devalia in bangkok
