Japan election: Ruling coalition to lose majorityーNHK WORLD-JAPAN NEWS #shorts
We have breaking news. NHK’s decision desk now projects the ruling coalition is certain to lose their majority in the upper house. The coalition has 75 uncontested seats. They needed to get to 125 to keep control of the chamber. So far, the Liberal Democratic Party and its junior partner KTO have a total of 121 seats, but NHK projects they are unlikely to make significant gains. Again, that means they will lose their majority. Keeping it had been Prime Minister Isha’s goal going into this election. It will mark the first time in the LDP’s 70-year history that it leaves a coalition that does not control either house. Speaking to the media Sunday night, Prime Minister Ishiba indicated he intends to stay in his role.
