Why foreign tourists are obsessed with Japan’s 100-Yen shops
Today’s feature is all about foreign tourists in Japan and their fascination with places locals often take for granted. 100 yen shops and lifestyle stores. Sushi keychain. Sushi keychain. We’ve never seen I’ve never seen this in the US. No, I’m I mean in France. We asked them why they are attracted by Japanese goods. Let’s check a popular lifestyle store in Tokyo’s Shabuya. A woman from Mexico was interested in a handysized fan. Understandable given Japan’s intense summer heat. How about using a fan? Super cool. Because outside is so hot. She was holding a powerful minifan with 100 adjustable speed settings. Come here. I show you. We have kind of this one and also like the this one or the bigger size like this one and that one. But yeah, this is pretty cool because I never like experienced the highest speed and this one is so cool. A family from the US also took interest in a similar fan. This is the super model with the water inside the mist. It was Dolly’s idea. All family members fell in love with this fan with a mist function that makes it even more refreshing. It’s hot outside and we saw some people here using them. I was like, “Oh, that’s very smart.” Another group was amazed by a popular item in Japan. Wearable neck coolers. We’ve never seen I’ve never seen this in the US. No, I’m I mean in France. What do you think of it after trying it on? Good. Very. That’s very cool. That’s very cool. So, we like it cuz we can reuse it and use it again and again and again. They were amazed by the neck coolers. Next, just a short walk away from Shabuya Station on the Inogga Shira line, a 100 yen shop is filled with international visitors. Some are looking at chopsticks, others at notebooks. Every corner has someone browsing. Affordable prices at the variety of goods make it a top choice for travelers. One man from Canada was filling his basket with toys and keychains. Why shop here? his favorite item. Sushi keychain. Sushi keychain. I think in Canada in Canada, sushi looks a little bit different. This is the kind of sushi that’s common in Canada. I think the kids will say, but in English. in English. Next, two sisters from Spain were buying bookstands. I bought this because I have a lot of mangas at home and I want this to put better my stunt to organize to organize. Yeah. Singo. Yes. All the collection They were surprised by one detail. In my country, you can find this. You don’t see this in Spain. In my home country, we can find something to put in the same shelf, two different like levels of manga. So, if you want to put it like this, you don’t see the manga be like behind. So, now with this, you can see the both sides. They were amazed that the bookstand is not just for holding books, but also makes them easier to view and access. A woman from Germany visiting Japan for the first time in 10 years was filling her basket with masking tape. I bought a lot of masking tape. I live in Germany and in Germany masking tape is very expensive. One of these rolls will cost €6 and here I can buy them for 100 yen. So it’s very very cheap and I love She also made a new discovery during her first trip back to a 100 yen shop. The patterns have become a lot more intricate and a lot nicer and there’s a much larger selection of different masking tapes. Masking tapes were a lot simpler 10 years ago. Use up all the masking tape and after that I really want to come back to Japan the latest and buy more masking tape at Daiso. She bought 106 rolls that day, half as gifts for friends. [Music]
Foreign tourists are flocking to Japan’s 100-yen (US 70 cents) shops and variety stores, amazed by the affordable, high-quality products. From sushi keychains to wearable neck coolers and power fans, it’s clear: Japan’s everyday items are anything but ordinary.

Might be a bit controversial but let's try this.
A country causes an huge pandemic. And nations across the globe almost crash. To sustain the decrease in production these nations buy from the very nation that caused the pandemic.
Now it also doesn't help that wages in Japan haven't increased and taxes have at 47%. And with the on going miss management and corruption of the government more nations find Japan cheaper.
Again this is an opinion and an observation. Do what you will with it.
I I the mother of PDD…just cheap stuff…now all over tge world by PDD
If they have a obsession with those kind of stores they have no life. In the end Japan needs to get over themselves.
