Japan-China spat hits Japanese stocks, tourism and seafood exports

China could ban seafood from Japan, in what appears to be the latest entanglement amid a widening diplomatic spat.

The tensions have also affected Japan’s stock market, causing stocks to dip and the yen to depreciate.

Tourism has also been hit, with more than half a million Japan-bound plane tickets being cancelled.

    Why would Taiwan -China issues be a "survival"problem for Japan? Does Japan think that it still owns Taiwan? Her colonial days are over!! Still using the same excuse as before to start Wars? Being nuked twice wasn't enough? USA will just dump you Silly, keep paying that 550billion and destroy your own economy just to kneel& lick bum with USA and now war mongering to please US? Good luck

    Taiwan is part of China, those ROC people didn't need passport when they got there in 1949. If they don't like it,go park yourselves in Texas or Hawaii. Do you see anyone meddling in Catalonia and Spain? N.ireland and UK? No difference here,so why is USA sending billions worth of weapon to Taiwan? How about China sending weapon to Texas huh?

    Since ancient times you never heard japan sending military aid to any foreign nation. Why now? I believe they just want their military power back to them with a good excuse.
    China on the other hand does that, to aid the korean in modern times and dynasty time.

    Threatening china with taiwan is the stupidest thing a leader of any country will do. There is no case at all on taiwan just that china is too lenient and easy on this province taiwan. Taiwan not a sovereign country, no taiwan embassy in all countries, taiwan passports imprinted china identification, proper legal docs on taiwan status with china…..so whats there to defame on this ?

    People tend to forget, Japan had killed and plundered Asia in ww2, that's the reason USA put in place article 9 in Japan constitution… There's no way Japan can defend itself without USA… Japan wants another Ukraine in Asia

    Boycot of fish import is just as devastating as China's boycot of soya bean import from the usa. Japan as a slave country of the usa has now been hit severely just the same. So master so slave.

    Tourists from elsewhere can step up and fill the tourism void.

    Between a country that closes an eye to its people growing humongous scam enterprises elsewhere (not until someone of status was hit before it finally took action) and a country that has all along produce excellent quality and reliable products, it's hard for me to support the former if I'm to consider the modern track records of both, even though China like many of our forefathers, suffered from Japanese occupation.

    It was a lesson we all needed to remember and never to repeat ever, but certainly not using it till the day an asteroid once again crashes onto our planet wiping us all out. If you really can't let go of the past, stop all your business with Japan, have a clean cut and forever not open your doors to them. I can't stand politicians who on one hand 'slams others for their wrongdoings' yet on the other hand, continue to do business with them.

    What are you leaders teaching right down to every individual? A serious crime must be condemned, but if there's money to be had, you still can maintain a relationship with the criminal while verbally condemning him/her? If you know you are big, you need to play it to your advantage and make everyone else bow if they want to earn your money?

    Japan unfortunately was under the control of their military who wanted to conquer territory when Japan invaded China. They recognize it was a mistake and want democracy and peace. Unfortunately China hasn't grown up and still has this mindset. Japan has learned from their mistake. Unfortunately China has not.

    Yet 1.6 million Japanese died.

    Today's population of Japan is 124 million.

    Demographers say that this number is expected to drop to only 63 million by 2100.

    So what new idea does the Prime Minister have as soon as she gets to power.

    Let's get into a war with China over Taiwan.

    What do you think a war with China is going to have on Japan's population projection for 2100?

    Where are Japan going to get money to fight a war with China? They will likely have to borrow even more money. Borrow more money with an ever shrinking population and shrinking tax paying population

    And she talking about having a threat to Japan's survival.

    Lady, Taiwan's reunification with China is not a threat to Japan's existence . Going to war with China is the biggest threat to Japan's existence.

    I thought Japanese people were smarter this, at least this lady is definitely not.
