We are the fourth largest economy as I speak. We are a $4 trillion economy as I speak. And this is not my data. This is IMF data. India today is larger than Japan. It’s only the United States, China and Germany which are larger. And if we stick to you know what is being planned, what is being thought through, it’s a matter of another two, two and a half, 3 years, we would become the third largest economy.

India’s NITI Aayog CEO BVR Subrahmanyam said that the country has become the fourth largest economy in the world, overtaking Japan. The remarks were made during the 10th Governing Council meeting of Niti Aayog. Subrahmanyam said, “We are the fourth largest economy as I speak. We are a USD 4 trillion economy as I speak.” Citing IMF data, Subrahmanyam said, “It is only the US, China and Germany which are larger than India, and if we stick to what is being planned and what is being thought through, in 2.5-3 years, we will be the third largest economy.”
