  1. How about selling gas to Australians at 50c a litre so they can drive their car fuel is affordable and we have energy security.
And then giving Australian businesses competitive access to gas sold we can manufacture here.
We can't build cars here while the government is supplying our competitors cheaper energy.

  2. How about the fact that a high percentage of Australians are now on the street or forced to live with strangers.

How about a large percentage of Australians are actively starving.

Meanwhile, investment properties are exploding everywhere. All of which are "Priced to the market" essentially costing 98% of a single persons income.

Essentially rendering all new properties useless to anyone but investors or the upper 10%.

How about the government shutting down tobacco alternatives pushing thousands of Australians back to tobacco. While they simultaneously raise taxes on tobacco $40+ for a pack of 20 that cost barely over $5 in New York.

How about the almost complete lack of bulk billing rendering healthcare only the domain of those with money?

    Shall I go on ad-infinitum?

  3. 17 billion they got for selling Australian gas, smart, Japanese expect their government to work for them, instead of foreigners

  4. We are still a Colony. The Nations natural assets are for the benefit of foreign countries. And Aussie are treated like mushrooms and seem to be fine with it

  5. Ohh yes the Austrailan government fight against their own people just like the government do in Sweden.
Wonder why this is happening and WHO controls the politics?

  6. What about the strict environmental laws on mining in Australia, when the same companies have no such scruples in 3rd world countries. We can foul other nests, but not ours !

  7. I wish we had higher gas taxes, but $17 billion when our government brings in over $700 billion total and has a $35 billion deficit is not going to fix anything

  8. The reason isn't the tax, your oil gets sold on the open market, if you add 25% tax who pays that? Then Japan would just buy oil from another place that doesn't charge tax. There is a fundamental misunderstanding of what is happening here. The Australian government also make more tax from selling it to Australians than they do taxing the oil companies who extract the oil.

  9. Absolutely disgusting, why aren't our jails overflowing with treasonous polititions. Its time to hold the paristies accountable

  10. Silly soundbite politics. If the Japanese come to you to buy a commodity, you negotiate a price you're happy with and sell it, and then it's their gas. They can sell it internally however they want. Whack a big sales tax on it, collect high revenue, give people high utility bills, make their industry uncompetitive abroad. Put a small or zero sale tax on it, lower the cost of living, help create new energy-high consumption business' and jobs. That's THEIR choice, there's nothing that happens here when their tax is greater than our tax.
Stop letting glib politicians and fancy soundbites on shorts be your guide.
