On April 23, NetEase, which has ties to official Chinese narratives, released a striking report. It said customs data had leaked, showing that domestic companies imported zero PVA optical film from Japan in the first two months of the year. NetEase did not describe this as a supply cutoff by Japan. Instead, it claimed that major display manufacturers and semiconductor foundries in China are actively using up existing inventory. However, it also revealed that China had already banned exports of high-purity gallium and germanium to Japan for two consecutive months.

    I worked for 30yrs in silicon foundry, 3 yrs with SMIC, this video is right on. The ASML photo lithography machine is just one aspect controlled by the Dutch but without the many chemicals mentioned here you can just forget about making chip, and the Japanese controlled 80% of the high end chemicals. A gallon of photoresist can cost up to several thousands $$, we practically put a customer out of business because we can’t secure a special mix photoresist during Covid.

    When I started in the electronics field, the bleeding edge was 10-micron gate-length (or "node," in today's terms). Today it's down to the nanometer level: thousands of times smaller. Transistor features are only a few atoms thick. That's why there such high demands on purity of chemicals and on tool performance.

    7 nm and larger nodes can tolerate lower standards, but that's falling farther and farther behind.

    Oh yeah China also needs all these products from Japan, but they also need customers from all over the world! So so how does the CCP do that? They create slave peasants, the peasants the Chinese people are peasants and they make the products for the world and they don't get paid enough to live. The jobs now are gone because China has turned the world against itself or at least with the western countries by by CCP's military military that is trying to circle the Earth and destroy it by building the biggest navy in the world
