i thought this was Business Class | Japan Airlines Premium Economy
japan airlines’ premium economy on the a350 costs almost double economy on this round trip, but it’s still a fraction of business. after flying it, i finally get why people pay the difference.
what surprised me most wasn’t one feature. it was how much more personal the whole experience felt. the privacy divider definitely helps. it gives you your own little space instead of feeling like you’re sharing half your seat with a stranger for the next 11 hours.
there are tradeoffs, though. it’s a shell seat, so when you recline, the seat slides forward instead of the entire shell moving back. you lose a bit of legroom while reclining, but nobody can recline into your knees either, which honestly matters more on a long flight.
then there’s the huge 4k screen, thoughtful storage, and the extra space throughout. none of it is business class, but together it feels much closer than i expected.
it’s not a lie-flat bed, and it’s definitely not cheap. but if what you really want is comfort, privacy, and arriving less exhausted, this feels like the sweet spot between economy and business.
✈️ save this before your next japan trip, then send it to the friend who still thinks premium economy isn’t worth it.
