India’s Economy Shines Globally! Japan Upgrades Sovereign Rating After Strong GDP Growth

India’s economy gets a major global boost as Japan Credit Rating Agency (JCR) upgrades India’s sovereign rating to A- from BBB+, citing strong economic growth, robust private consumption, public investment, fiscal consolidation and improvements in the banking sector. The upgrade comes as India records 7.8% GDP growth, while JCR expects growth to remain above 6% in FY27. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has welcomed the strong growth numbers and called for continued focus on self-reliance and domestic manufacturing. The report also flags high government debt as a challenge to watch.
